His banning was a relative injustice.
If FCB was indeed a Reds fan (which I doubt) he was likely mentally ill.
He was absolutely miserable when the Reds started winning in 2010. Beside himself with grief.
Did anyone hear actually grow up with him and know him personally? Or is everyone simply guessing about his personality based on this board?

He was and is a passionate fan and a quite often brilliant writer.
I don't have to agree with everything he says to enjoy his style.
Boring, he wasn't.

I'd take one FCB over fifty condescending, self-righteous thread cops. Characters are good. Baseball is fun.

Mentally ill is probably a bit much, but there are plenty of people in this world for whom misery is Oxygen.

Does anonymity through having nicknames on this board really allow us to say this about another human being and not feel like they are being rude? Or is our culture so rude these days that we just say or type whatever comes to our mind.
Work with the mentally ill a few days and you will never make light of the subject again.

I know a number of mentally ill people. My first wife was/is mentally ill.
I don';t think FCB was mentally ill, as I think he was simply an intelligent troll who fooled my posters on the board.
But if he was indeed a Reds fan, I believe he exhibited a number of mentally ill sympthoms. He certainly couldn't enjoy being a Reds fan, because their success drove him to be miserable. He was much happier when they were failing. Some fan.

That could be a folk song

Whaaa? How could you possibly know any of that? "Their success drove him to be miserable?" Lol. You jumped on everyone for assuming that he's a Reds fan without knowing him personally but you're able to determine that he's not a Reds and he's miserable/borderline mentally ill without personally knowing him?
Let me see if I can follow:
Long, longtime poster on a Reds message board frustrated with 10 years of the Reds failing = not enough info to determine if he's actually a Reds fan.
Long, long time poster on a Reds message board frustrated with 10 years of losing = plenty of info to determine personal well being and mental stability.
