Re: USMNT: The March to Brazil - World Cup 2014
Man, I really want to beat Mexico tomorrow. I just do not see it happening without Bradley and Jozy.
Kyle Beckerman :barf:

Jozy was a moron and picked up a stupid yellow card at the end of the Costa Rica game and is out now.
This will be a really interesting game with both teams coming off losses and the coach being fired and all the players being out for the US. I'm going to go with 2-1 good guys.

Here's a GIF explaining why Matt Besler is ineligible to play tomorrow v. Mexico (due to his second booking):

Naturally, because they're a corrupt organization, CONCACAF has no procedures in place to review these sorts of things.

Wow, that is incredible.

Is there a more corrupt sport than soccer? Maybe boxing....maybe.

Agreed, it's almost as bad as baseball from 1850 - 2000

1850-2000?
Re: USMNT: The March to Brazil - World Cup 2014
Besler is clearly a Jedi.
Re: USMNT: The March to Brazil - World Cup 2014
Match day! I don't know that 2-0 is in the cards, but I really hope the US can find a way to get the 3 points out of this match and remove some of the drama from qualification.
The first 20 minutes will be key. If the US can weather whatever Mexico is going to throw at them -- or, dreaming, come away with an early score -- I think the history of Columbus might get into their heads a bit and really push the decision for the US side.

Nationality of the ref crew - Mexican. Coincidence?

This is such a weird image, is it assumed the ref told the player to just bump into him? I mean, why would Costa Rica care if Besler was out vs Mexico? Wouldn't it even be better for US to beat Mexico? The only thing I can image is the ref told the player he would help Costa Rica in the match against the US if he helped him. It really is despicable.

How can this not be reviewed by FIFA. The ref shouldn't work another important game in his life and the player who flopped should be suspended.

What else would you expect from CONCACAF? I imagine it has to be incredibly galling to them that America is finally starting to care about a sport they had all to themselves as recently as ~20 years ago.

If it doesn't line Sepp Blatter's pockets, FIFA doesn't care.
Re: USMNT: The March to Brazil - World Cup 2014
1) I like Kyle Beckerman. He keeps the game simple and the passes flowing. Though don't be surprised if Diskerud or Torres gets the start tonight.
2) Boxing is way more corrupt than soccer. So is any sport that involves Russian judges.
3) Costa Rica has plenty of ax to grind against the U.S. (snow game in Denver, costing them the automatic berth for the 2010 World Cup). Campbell didn't need a special reason to screw Besler. He was willing to do that for free.
4) It is preposterous that CONCACAF has no procedure to overturn bogus ref decisions.
5) If Sacha Kljestan wants to secure a slot on the WC roster, he'll break Campbell's leg in Champions League play.
6) Mexico's got a few players out too and a temp coach.
