Wednesday 05/19/10 Minor League Updates
Guess Mr. Valiquette wasn't shooting me straight last night...this sounds bad.
Zebulon, NC --- The Cincinnati Reds have made one roster move impacting their Double-A affiliate Carolina Mudcats prior to tonight's series finale with the Jacksonville Suns.
RHP Daryl Thompson has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain. The move is retroactive to May 17th. Thompson was lifted from Sunday's start after pitching 4 2/3 innings.
No corresponding move has been announced.
A revised roster is attached.
DISABLE: RHP Thompson, Daryl (To 7-day DL)

He didn't miss his spot in the rotation the last time they did this, correct?

He did, just one start though.

The 7-day DL's not bad.

21 pitches for Chapman in the 1st.
1 BB

Re: Wednesday 05/19/10 Minor League Updates
Louisville radio guy said the stadium gun is 5MPH slow and Chapman just blew a guy away at 98MPH...you can do the math there.
Re: Wednesday 05/19/10 Minor League Updates
Jared Burton has been activated for the Bats. Louisville Bats placed RHP Justin Lehr on the 7-Day disabled list retroactive to May 18, 2010. Right elbow inflammation.

Excellent news about Burton. A revived Burton will likely be better than anybody we're able to acquire via trade, and we're going to need, IMO, at least one more bullpen arm.
Re: Wednesday 05/19/10 Minor League Updates
2 hits 2K's and a walk through three for Chapman. Sitting in the mid 90's even on a slow gun according to PBP.
Re: Wednesday 05/19/10 Minor League Updates
Oppo homer for Balentien (#5). Still intrigued by that guy.
Re: Wednesday 05/19/10 Minor League Updates
The stadium gun is not likely 5mph slow. Otherwise, Chapman is consistently working at 99-100 mph.
HR Balentien
1-0 Bats

That's just what was supposedly reported to the radio dude form the Bats dugout. I agree it's probably 2-4MPH slow or else Chapman was throwing absolute smoke that last inning. It'd be nice to hear what Savery is throwing just to compare.

Serranno got pulled after 2 hitless innings in Lynchburg. That doesn't sound good.

Ditto. Maybe if Stubbs keeps straddling the Mendoza line they will send him back down, move Heisey to CF, and call up Balentien to be Gomes' platoon partner. I'd like to see the kid get a real shot.

Hopefully he's getting promoted. He's definitely old enough to be pitching in AA.
