I'm not sure if guys realized the joke. I'm trying to carry on the annual draft tradition of picks that will piss off Jets fans.
Based on the reaction, I think I did just fine :)
Well, the Chicago Bears have a lot of question marks and a lot of holes to fill. There really is not a need to draft a quarterback because the studs have already been taken and there is a need to improve the other roster spots.
The biggest whole is the wide receiver position. So with the 18th pick in the draft the Chicago Bears select Darius Heyward-Bey from the university of Maryland. Maclin also would have been a solid pick, but Heyward-Bey has a size advantage and is at least as fast as maclin if not faster. Maclin's best ability is returning punts and kicks, but the bears are pretty loaded there with Devin Hester and the emmergence of Danieal Manning.
So the Bears draft Heyward-Bey, from what I know, a guy with a good attitude and strong work ethic to boost their receiver corps.
I'm not a huge Maclin fan, but I will say this. He's probably the fastest player I've seen outside of Primetime. My wife's family is from Mizzou so I've seen Maclin play in person several times. I've never seen Heyward-Bey play, but I'd be shocked if he could run with Maclin, despite any 40 times at the combine. Maclin absolutely blazes by people on the field. I think what makes Maclin good is he's very quick as well. He gets to top speed in a split second. Defenders have no chance if he has any space to run.
The Buccaneers could go a lot of different ways with this pick including corner and defensive tackle, however they could not be more happy that their first choice is still on the board.
With the 19th selection in the 2009 NFL draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Larry English, Defensive End, Northern Illinois University.

The Lions have their franchise quarterback, so now they need to think about protecting him. This pick is easy because it is a guy they were considering first overall just a few months ago. So, with their second pick in the first round the Detroit Lions select Andre Smith, OL, Alabama.

"Go big or go home." (pun intended)
That would be an outstanding first round for the lions.
Of course now that they are lions, those players will suck REAL hard.
With the 21st pick, the Philadelphia Eagles select........Knowshon Moreno, RB, University of Georgia

Andy says:
http://ac4.yt-thm-a04.yimg.com/image/76909e7b1949a2ce "We think Knowshon will provide valuable depth in the backfield. At this point in the round, his combination of talent and potential was just too great to ignore. We especially liked Knowshon's ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, which will allow us to have him and Brian (Westbrook) on the field at the same time. We will be able to show some different looks on offense, and hopefully save Brian from some wear and tear by having him line up in the slot periodically. We also appreciate Knowshon's work ethic, and feel that one day he can be one of the leaders on the offensive side of the ball."
Desperate to avoid again starting someone who once backed up Sammy Baugh the Minnesota Vikings select

The Patriots are somewhat amazed--but definitely jubilant--to be able to select

Jeremy Maclin, from Missouri, with the 23rd pick in the RedsZone NFL draft. Jeremy will return punts as well as complement our already dangerous receiving corps to give opposing defensive coordinators nightmares.
How the heck did Macklin fall that far? Well I guess since we can't trade picks it helps. If the Pats get Macklin at 23 I will vomit on draft day.
