I am not sure that small sample size works there. This guy is not good. He should thank the good lord that he was give a "dominant" (so to speak) left-arm that has made him a millionaire. Based on 4+ years of big league action I say cut ties now. I would have cut ties before Opening Day, but I am not at Spring Training or in the front office. He is a below-average pitcher that I do not care to see wear a REDS uniform. If it is a funk, then he has been in this funk for about 3 years.
Maybe Parra is a different pitcher as a reliever. He fared pretty well as a reliever in 2010, then got injured in 2011 and unsure if that affected his 2012.
But, to be honest, the general consensus on this board is that Price is a fantastic pitching coach. He'll get the benefit of the doubt from me in situations like this.
Re: Why is Parra on this team instead of Arredondo?
Price can do all he can with Parra, but you can't polish a turd. Everyone knows that.
Re: Why is Parra on this team instead of Arredondo?
Parra, if he's ever going to be a good pitcher (something he's never been), needs to go to AAA and get his act together.

I was just pointing out that he owns Votto and Phillips. The dude has some nasty stuff.

The mythbusters disagree.

Parra thinks he's Billy Wagner all of a sudden.
Reds @Reds
Manny Parra has retired 13 of his last 14 batters, has made 10 consecutive scoreless apps (8.1ip) and 5 straight hitless apps (4ip). #whiff

Yeah, he has been solid. Seems like these guys may have learned how to use him. Hopefully.
Re: Why is Parra on this team instead of Arredondo?
I read a while back that Sean Marshall was helping Parra with his role but yeah, Parra has been solid lately.
Re: Why is Parra on this team instead of Arredondo?
Parra's been rock-solid of late. I think this is how they originally envisioned him.

This years Alfredo Simon.

Parra has been great since coming off the DL.
I acknowledge that it's too early to say he's turned the corner, but the Reds are getting value out of him.
I really think Baker and Price deserve some credit for getting production out of a guy that many thought was a lost cause.
He's not Marshall, of course, but recently, he's been one of the better relievers.

So we love Handy Manny now, huh.
