Who's anxiously awaiting the Sprint Evo?
I'm sticking with a Blackberry that has a huge crack on the screen just because I'm so stoked for the Evo that I can't justify using the $100 deductible on the Blackberry in the meantime...
This thing looks mean... 2 cameras, one on the front and one on the back (so you can use your phone for video messaging), 4g, and I was told by a Sprint rep that it can be used as it's own hotspot to power up to 5 laptops?
absurd...

Re: Who's anxiously awaiting the Sprint Evo?
Yeah, it can be used as a hot spot if you have Sprint's mobile internet. The Palm Pre Plus on Verizon does the same thing. It basically saves you from purchasing something like this:

Which is still pretty cool. It is gonna be a great phone, I'm thinking about getting it.

I have Palm Pre on Sprint. I have a Homebrew App so I can use my Pre as a hotspot. The EVO looks nice.
Re: Who's anxiously awaiting the Sprint Evo?
got mine today... store opened at 8, left with it at 830...
Re: Who's anxiously awaiting the Sprint Evo?
The Evo looks very cool. I'm excited about a lot of the HTC Android devices either out or coming out soon. Evo is probably tops on the list, but the Droid Incredible on Verizon and some rumored devices on AT&T like the HTC Desire are all very exciting phones. I've been using Windows Mobile for a while now, but I'll probably upgrade as soon as AT&T releases something like the Desire.
I'm very jealous of you right now REDblooded!
Re: Who's anxiously awaiting the Sprint Evo?
Picked one up yesterday afternoon... love it so far. Especially love that you can download an app, try it out, and get a refund within 24 hours if you decide not to keep it.
Re: Who's anxiously awaiting the Sprint Evo?
Well I got one yesterday. I was due for an upgrade for a while but I was contemplating letting my contract run out with Sprint and getting the iPhone 4. But my other phone jumped in the pool and unfortunately it was in my pocket at the time so I got all wet.......I may have described that wrong.
So I demo'd the Evo at Best Buy and pretty much fell in love with it. I have no regrets about not waiting 4 more months and getting the iPhone. I went with the white back. Got a good home screen photo as well.

lol. Yeah, that's a combination of my work and personal email, which I share with my wife. She has us signed up on a lot of lists for stupid stuff that we rarely open. I used to have them all filtered neatly to their own folders, but it became overwhelming and I didn't keep up with it.

I got the Palm Pre myself last summer when in terms of the phone OS itself (not apps), it was the highest rated phone on the market with the ability at the time to run several apps at once. (Not looking to debate what phone is better by any stretch, but thats what my research at the time turned up)
I guess I'm wondering if Sprint will get its act together because frankly the Pre was somewhat of a bomb in terms of sales...but its a good phone. I'm gonna be gunshy in the future to buy the latest greatest from Sprint. I love the cost of the plans vs Iphones, but I just wonder if Sprint is ever gonna be a major player again, or whether they will be swalllowed up by Apple/Google/Blackberry/Att/Verizon etc.

It wasn't Sprint's fault. It's Palm's fault that it didn't sell well. They released it on Verizon and AT&T and it didn't sell very well on either network.
The Pre is a great phone, but I didn't go for it with Sprint because they didn't release the Pre Plus on Sprint. They released the Plus on Verizon and AT&T. I had all three and thought they were great phones. They don't have the number of apps that Android and iPhone have though. The Palm OS is really incredible though.
Re: Who's anxiously awaiting the Sprint Evo?
I ended up ditching my Palm Pre (virtually no support/updates) and switching to HTC EVO. I had a problem with the MLB AT BAT app with popping sounds while in 3G. Found a fix here..

Had to call sprint to get the MSL.
I will know if it works later today.
