Just say no to the Travelodge in Newport.
Unless cockroaches and stale odors of cigarettes, bad plumbing, and human body odor are your criteria for a pleasant hotel experience.
But, seriously.....if you have a group of two or more people...get a two-bedroom suite or the penthouse suite at:

affordable parking......friendly staff.....great bar/restaurant.........
BTW, I am not an employee delivering a shameless plug. I always stay there when I stay in Cincinnati.
Millennium Hotel downtown is nice too. Not far from the ballpark. Consider staying in Newport, KY as well. Lots to do and you are out of the downtown scene if that's not for you. Not a bad walk to the ballpark either.
I would stay that the Westin or Hilton in downtown before any of the places mentioned if the rates were similar--both are pretty nice and a very short walk from the ballpark.
That said, they may be significantly more expensive than the other options, it's been a while since I've checked the rates.
Embassy Suites across the river. Free cocktail hour from like 4-6 and a very nice breakfast buffet. The rooms are also good size and though they may seem a little on the high side, when you factor in the above its a pretty sweet deal.
I would recommend the El Rancho Rankin east of Lunken.
Okay, no I wouldn't.
Thank goodness that thing is gone. Wow what a dump.
Millennium is nice downtown. I stayed at a ramada right next to I-75 last October because of no vacancy anywhere else. It was affordable but the noise from traffic was terrible
