Anyone out there watch the first two episodes of HBO's mini-series "John Adams" last night?
I thought it was brilliant, an incredible accomplishment.
So, how accurate was it? :D
I just picked up the book after reading 1776.
So far I really love the series, and seems to be very accurate.
I've read the book, back when it came out. Can't wait to see the mini.
Alot of critics have trashed it but I watched it and enjoyed it.
It was a challenge trying to understand what they were saying alot of times.
How can you find time to read "books" when you're living this life:

It's brilliant.
Paul Giamatti is some kind of god, and Laura Linney has me in a spell.
How does it turn out?
The book was one of the best I have ever read. If the TV series is close then it should be terrific.
Nah. Coincidences like that don't play well.
I predict he'll win reelection narrowly, and Jefferson will respond by leading a coup. All this will end badly when Aaron Burr, with the military behind him, takes power and has both Adams and Jefferson shot. The British will then, of course, move back in and take over their former colony.
...or maybe my blood sugar's just up again.
Seriously, I want to see this, having read the book. Right now I'm reading McCullough's "Mornings on Horseback" about the young Teddy Roosevelt. Back when I was in high school in the seventies, I read McCullough's "The Path Between the Seas" about Roosevelt & the Panama Canal, and am just now getting around to reading the prequel. Very good book so far.
One of these days I'll get to 1776.
