Offense that'll put you to sleep.

Ludwick isn't that young, the days off are scheduled in advance between the two of them.
The fact is we're without Votto, Jay Bruce has been absolutely terrible, Phillips has been hurt and he isn't hitting since coming back...and well after that you can't expect a ton of production. Role players can only carry you so long.
Re: Reds vs. Brewers Tuesday 8/7
Of all the things people have to legitimately complain about, Baker giving Ludwick a day or two off is not one of them.
Re: Reds vs. Brewers Tuesday 8/7
This team hit a funk in the fourth inning Sunday and still hasn't recovered. Hope they snap out of it soon. These kinds of offensive performances are depressing to watch.
Re: Reds vs. Brewers Tuesday 8/7
The problem is we are no longer facing the dopes that we saw against Houston, Colorado, and San Diego. We have faced three straight decent right handed pitchers. This has been our achilles heel for a long time. Unfortunately Walt has not addressed it.

Walt must have thought we played Houston the remaining part of the season. This team is very limited offensively even with Votto, put them up against a good or above average pitching staff and the odds go way down that we win.

We are 46-26 when Ludwick starts and almost a fifth of the losses coming in Chapman blown games. We are 20-18 when he doesn't start, I think people have a legit beef when he sits especially when he was on fire.
Re: Reds vs. Brewers Tuesday 8/7
Always nice trying to avoid the sweep to a team who handed the Cardinal 3 wins getting beat 18-4 total.

Over the last two years the Brewers are dramatically different at home as opposed to on the road. What they did in St Louis is irrelevant. Plus Gallaro did not pitch against the Cardinals.

Let me explain it to you: This is not the NFL. This is a 162 game season. Ryan Ludwick is 34 years old. Its a marathon not a sprint. You need to keep your players fresh. This is like people complaining when Baker used to give Rolen a day off for a day game after a night game. You need to look at the big picture.

Paul had some good at bats tonight. Maybe he should have gave Bruce a rest.
Re: Reds vs. Brewers Tuesday 8/7
When Votto comes back, hopefully soon, what move do they make to open the spot on the 25 man?
Paul has earned his spot, Cairo has not, Cairo has my vote.

If Phillips really is still hurt then he should be on the DL

This was stressed repeatedly to the "Walt Stand Pat" crowd prior to the deadline. People refused to see it. (Including, apparently, Walt.)
I still think we can win this division or make the playoffs as a wild card, but I have big-time concerns about how they're going to generate ANYTHING against playoff-caliber pitching.
