Re: Sean Marshall to DL; Ondrusek called up
the DL stint would retroactive to the last time he pitched, and considering tomorrow's off day, the move doesn't seem necessary to me. Unless there is more going on with his shoulder than is being told. they could have played a pitcher short today, and saw how his arm was responding on friday.
just a very odd handling of this.
Re: Sean Marshall to DL; Ondrusek called up
Is it just me, or does the "Early season trip to the DL w/ Mysterious Shoulder Ailment" scenario never seems to end well.

I like this thinking.. No point in pushing Marshall at this point in the year.
In fact, I wish the Reds would be more conservative with their valuable assets.
Marshall gets a nice 2 week rest/rehab now. Hopefully that fixes everything.
I do not want him pitching if he's not 100%. We have the long term to think about.
Honestly, it bugged me that they had Masset pitching in the minor leagues last year when he was not 100% (They've done this with other non-star pitchers too, Bray, Maj, etc).. Let the guys get their rest in if they are hurt.

Sadly agreed, but I'm not going to worry too much until the end of the month.
Just don't get why this wasn't done at the beginning of the season instead -- we'd be 10 days into the DL stint already.

If you DLed every pitcher who has a sore arm you wouldn't have very many pitchers available.
Re: Sean Marshall to DL; Ondrusek called up
Speaking of "My arm started hurting in April and I haven't been heard from since," has anyone confirmed that Nick Masset is still alive?

Yep... I'd suggest everyone read Pennant Race and/or Ball Four and note the numerous mentions about arms being sore

I agree. I was just trying to guess as to his rationale for it.

Sorry, just have to give you props for your new avatar. Too funny.

I think I saw a quote from Marshall during the first week of the season blaming the extra long ST for his soreness.
Re: Sean Marshall to DL; Ondrusek called up
Remember kids... throwing the ball is an unnatural act

Yea, I remember that comment too.
They were speculating "dead arm" at that time.
Not sure of that is the same thing as tendonitis in ball player language, but it does not seem too serious.
Re: Sean Marshall to DL; Ondrusek called up
The fact that he pitched on Sunday shows this wasn't the easiest decision. MRI was negative. He was healthy enough to pitch during the first week. It seems he has been right on the edge of being ready. Now if he still hadn't thrown yet and we were down a man, that would be a problem with the medical staff.
Eh.

Good? Sorry, nothing about this is "good."
