Sign LaMarre quickly? Call up Yorman out of necessity?
I am guessing if they can pull off your first suggestion, that would be the answer. Contreras is an excellent center fielder. Reed would be an option if he was available, but unfortunately not. Yorman...I don't know. I would not move him based on a need but they may feel differently. Lets see what happens in the next couple of days. So sorry for Andrew. Did you know that Means led the league in putouts by an outfielder even though he had missed 10 games? What does that say about his range? He covers so much ground out there that he saved the pitchers 1-2 hits every night.
Question for Doug or Reds72, How do you feel about his lack of homeruns?
When I saw him last year in Dayton, he had more raw power than anyone that I have ever seen come through Dayton aside from Josh Hamilton when he was working out at the stadium back in 2007.
Sounds like LaMarre will be the guy. He is being flown to Dayton Friday to sign. If the commissioners office approves it quickly, he could play Saturday.
I wish he had more power but right now, he has been worrying more about trying to do a better job of making contact on the breaking ball. He might eventually develop some power. He has the physical build, that's for sure. But not the swing.
Question I have asked some people in recent weeks: What player in the organization has the most pure power? Most common answer: Duran.
I am looking forward to seeing LaMarre. As you stated on your website Doug, the Means injury obviously was the reason for the late Wednesday phone call. For those who care or don't know, the E is silent. It is pronounced Lamar.
I am curious... Why isn't Justin Reed available?
Wow, that's pretty cool about LaMarre.
