Blue Jays have been on their own, quiet little spending spree this off-season
Good for Toronto. They know they have a window to win the AL East while the Yankees and Red Sox take a spending spree break so the owners can pocket the "extra" money using the luxury tax rule as the reason.
The Jays have put a really good core together. While they have traded some good prospects they have received a lot of value in return.
Perfect time for the Jays to make moves. The Red Sox's are in a transition and have no where near the firepower they used to in bats and arms, and the Yanks are getting older and more injury prone by the season.
If anything at this point you would have to consider the Jays and Orioles as the frontrunners in the AL East.
I think they got a great deal on Dickey.Nearly no injury risk since he's a knuckler born without a UCL and he's been an innings eating workhorse the last two years. If he was your traditional pitcher he would have demanded way more money. It would be amazing if he could throw 250 innings this year.
