Damn near every pitcher has had to deal with some type of pitching-related physical malady by the time they are 25. The rare few who don't are genetic freaks.
As long as the injury doesn't involve the shoulder girdle, most guys can come back from surgery/rehab with little to no loss of their 'stuff'. If the injury does involve the shoulder girdle, then the chances of that pitcher ever amounting to anything become VERY slim.

Throwing a baseball is one of the most brutal things you can do to your arm.
The high attrition rate of prospects, especially young pitchers, is part of following minor-league baseball.

Lol I think Doc may have included that one in his 'more brutal things' category. That guy did what he had to do to live though.

I agree injuries are common, but injuries that put them on the DL?

Yes.
Re: Travis Wood put on DL
Guess since they are in the minors you don't hear about it
Re: Travis Wood put on DL
Yes, minor league pitchers have injury problems, amazing isn't it!!!!!:mooner:
The fact the Reds were so injury free last year doesn't mean they will be this year.
Ty Howington was a injury risk when he was drafted. I remember when he was drafted, I thought, "wow that guy is a big injury risk", but everybody was in the "Bowden was God" mode so they ignored it.
Re: Travis Wood put on DL
Even more so if there is a lot of $$$$ invested in the player. It has become increasingly more predominant for pitchers coming up to be place on the DL for something as small as a hang nail; ;)
