Re: 4-23-07 Reds v Cardinals
Well I like that Dunn is hitting in front of Jr. I like the fact that he's in the top three period, but I really like it when he hits directly in front of Jr.
-
Re: 4-23-07 Reds v Cardinals
Given how bad this offense has been, any game with Harang or Arroyo starting has to be labeled a "must win" for this team to stay near the .500 mark.
Burning Question for the Night: Will Aaron Harang make more contact at the plate than Dave Ross.
-
Re: 4-23-07 Reds v Cardinals
Hopefully Dunn get back on track and Jr gets started, otherwise there isn't any hope anyway.
I am guessing that Dunn's back had a lot to do with his last week. I looked at his BPIs and he had a contact % of 35 for the last 7 days. That isn't just bad, its off the charts bad and prior to the back problem in Chicago he had been swinging well.

Looks pretty good. Ross is brutal with the bat right now but he calls such great games that i want him in there most of the time. I think he will come around a bit so it wont hurt so much to have him in there.

Re: 4-23-07 Reds v Cardinals
Is this Hamilton's first start in the leadoff position?
-
Re: 4-23-07 Reds v Cardinals
Next burning question: will Harang make it through 5 innings?
-
Re: 4-23-07 Reds v Cardinals
How about fixing the date? Today is the 24th.

Will the weather let them play 5 innings?

Re: 4-23-07 Reds v Cardinals
I think this is the reds best lineup. Freel off the bench gives them a situational runner/hitter and Hamilton can act like a true lead off hitter.
-
Re: 4-23-07 Reds v Cardinals
Beautiful. Our #1 RBI guy (Hamilton) is hitting behind the two least likely people to get on base in all of baseball.

Don't get used to it...it'll flipped, flopped, and switched up tomorrow.

Re: 4-23-07 Reds v Cardinals
Good to see Griffey feeling better

3rd would be his ideal spot....he is their best hitter.

Done. I've been mixed up on this all week. I think I'll just wait to the 1st to get right again.

If things continue as they have been, Hambone's going to be coming up with 2 outs and no men on 3-4 times tonight. Freel's been hitting in that situation seemingly all year.
-
Re: 4-24-07 Reds v Cardinals
BP batting 2nd is moronic. But I'm sure it'll change by tomorrow (he'll be batting 3rd then).
-
Re: 4-24-07 Reds v Cardinals
We are going to start hitting better soon. Dunn, Junior, and EE are all good hitters. That can be a solid middle of the order. We'll get it going.

Well too bad it looks like it's going to rain. But it would be nice for Jr. to get off the snide in terms of HRs and knock a couple out against Wells.

Re: 4-24-07 Reds v Cardinals
The fact is that the Reds really don't have any high OBP guys other than Dunn (at this moment). Some guys will improve.
So, I'm not too bothered by leading off Hamilton. He might get an extra at bat in this game due to batting leadoff.. I'm fine with maximizing the at bats to the best hitters.
Not crazy about batting Phillips 2nd, I'd probably bat Dunn 2nd and Jr 3rd.. Might as well clump the three best hitters together, even if they are all LH.. It's not as if Phillips really will protect them that much.. Although it might get LaRussa to burn through some more relief pitchers, since he plays the matchups so much "by the book".

Re: 4-24-07 Reds v Cardinals
I think they'll get the game in.
I really want to get back to .500 tonight. No need to lose any more ground on that mark.
-
Re: 4-24-07 Reds v Cardinals
I took JR and Hamilton out of my fantasy lineups for tonight. Don't want to risk leaving Bill Hall and David DeJesus inactive in their stead even though I think JR and Josh will be great against Wells.

Really. I put both of them in tonight in one of the leagues I'm in. Of course one of my other outfielders was off tonight, and the other I took out is Jermaine Dye.

Re: 4-24-07 Reds v Cardinals
We need this game... Atleast for my sanity! I say take 2 of 3 from St. Louis and 2 of 3 from Pittsburg and we're right back to 13-12 and ready to make a move back up... We face Kip Wells, Looper, and Keisler at St. Louis so that should not be that tough of a task...

Hamilton leads the team at .413 while Junior is second at .393. Dunn is tied for third with Nacho Libre at .367.

Hamilton will get his at bats.

Re: 4-24-07 Reds v Cardinals
Kip Wells is traditionally a feast for LHBs, though this year he's holding them to a .489 OPS. Before Dave Duncan I'd have considered this a stat-padding game for Hobbs, Dunn, Jr. and Hatteberg. Now I'm not so sure.
-
Re: 4-24-07 Reds v Cardinals
I can't believe people look at the Cards' lineup and see a weak lineup. By my count, there's only one automatic out in there.

Wow, Harang OWNS Rolen-rolen-rolen-rawhide.

Re: 4-24-07 Reds v Cardinals
Though it is doubtful, it would be nice if FoxSports gave Grande the next few days off.

Narron considered batting Hatte leadoff, and won't rule it out for the future in certain cases....
Listen to the pregame...I'm not lying :)

Nah, GG probably went through the schedule and circled all of the StL series with a Cardinal Red sharpie

Why would you ask that? Harang is a great pitcher and the Cardinals suck.

I can't believe you actually think the Cardinals have a good lineup.
