5/13/07 Minors Updates
Bats tied 1-1.
EE's doubled and scored.

Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
Votto is 0-for-1 with his 25th walk.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
Edwin picks up his 2nd error since going to Louisville.
Joey Votto is in LF today. Me thinks Votto will stay in LF and we will see Edwin go to 1st base.
Take it for what it's worth.

Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
Chris Dickerson has some serious range in CF. It's amazing to see him run balls down out there.

Not much to take. It would just prove this organization is retarded. Simple as that. Votto>EE. If they can't stand EE that much at 3rd, trade him. He isn't a 1st baseman. He was already tried in the past at 2B and SS.

True, but doesn't Votto have something like 4 errors at 1st base this year? IF Votto is moved to LF, what does that say about Dunn and his impending option?

Red, there is no "if". Votto is a 1st baseman converted from a catcher. You do know that Votto is playing left field because they are short a man? Then why isn't EE playing 1st base today? You slam the same points over and over again, when they have little meaning.
Votto is a 1st baseman. He is still a developing fielder at this point(much like EE) but he plays a position Krivsky doesn't have as high on the defensive side. The Ryan/Krivsky team had 2 things that really stood out on defense: CF,3rd,SS,2nd are important. LF,RF,1st aren't.

No I didn't know that.
Votto just made a great diving grab in LF, btw.

Well, it makes some sense. Votto can be Dunn's replacement when he gets too expensive. EE will not have to worry about throwing. Freel can stay at third for awhile. Still no great righty bat, but if it works out defensively, not a terrible idea.
Problem, of course, is can Votto play left field. I heard he is not strong defensively.
I really do believe that if the Reds can eliminate this throwing problem by moving EE's position, he will be better off.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
Votto extends his hitting streak to 7 with a single.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
EE reaches on catcher's interfeance. He gets that call more then any player I've ever seen.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
Dayton tied 1-1 in the 3rd
Stubbs 0-0, HBP, BB, SB(7)
Valaika 1-2

Problem is, Freel at 3B makes EdE look like Brooks Robinson. The Reds haven't given EdE a chance at 3B. He gets to balls that most guys don't. Yeah he has a little bit of a throwing problem...let him work it out instead of moving him to another position and screwing up other prospects by moving them out of position.

Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
stubbs singled and has been on base all 3 times. i'd like to see him in high-a when bruce is promoted.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
Stubbs is now 1-for-1 with a single, walk, HBP, and stolen base.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates

He's lost all his confidence. I would too if my manager benched me everytime I made an error or made an out.
-

Votto Ks for the 3rd time today.
1-4
EE up
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates

C'mon. He's a professional baseball player. See ball, field ball, throw ball. It's not any harder than that.

Yeah, you are probably right. Thats why there were 16 teams with over 100 errors last year. It actually is harder than that.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
Votto up with 2 on and 1 out in the 10th. Chance to be a hero.
EE on deck.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
Votto Ks for the 4th time today.
EE up with 2 outs, 2 on.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
Edwin grounds out.
2-5 now.
-
Re: 5/13/07 Minors Updates
I don't think sending him to AAA makes EdE a worse fielder. Unless the fields are worse, which they probably are. He should be fielding the same.

Obviously for Edwin it is.
But hey, lets just blame it all on Narron. I'm sure Jerry loves it when he makes error after error.

Well you think the kid doesn't feel the pressure when everytime he makes an error he sits for 2 games, or when he gets pulled out of every game after the 7th inning? But then when his counterparts make errors, nothing happens to them. Does Edwin need work on his defense? Without question. The Reds don't make it any easier on him with the way they treat it though.
