I think Austin and Burress are pretty much locks. For the third pick I'd go Thomas over Green but I don't have a particularly strong feeling about the decision. I don't love starting Thomas, mostly because of the ambiguity about how the Dolphins are going to handle their backfield and the fact that I'd expect NE to get ahead early and force the Dolphins to try to catch up through the air. That said I don't see Green as a a great start this week due to the QB situation and the typically slow learning curve for rookie WRs. When in doubt, I go with the RB.
Re: FF Tough Start/Sit Matchup Decisions for 2011.
Thanks everyone for the responses. Much appreciated.
Id bench reggie bush in the one group of 3
Id start jahvid best in the one group of 4 rbs listed above.
Id go with beanie over addai.

Re: FF Tough Start/Sit Matchup Decisions for 2011.
I wouldn't touch Thomas with a ten foot pole as he had a bad camp. Word is he runs upright and doesn't hit the hole well, very tentative. I know Dalton is throwing the ball to him but I think AJ Green will have a pretty respectable day as Dalton will look for him a lot. I am starting him and I have him at 6 for 75 yds with a TD.

Thomas, Burress and Austin.

Plax, Austin and Green -- I have Thomas in both of my fantasy leagues, but I'm not showing him any PT until I get a better handle on who is going to be getting the key carries (1st / 2nd down carries & Goal-to-Go carries) for Miami this year.

Best v. TB -- Bucs run defense was suspect last year, and they're starting a rookie at MLB (Mason Foster) who, while having tremendous upside potential, is still going to make mistakes with calls and filling gaps.

Beanie until you have a handle on what the Colts offense looks like without Manning.
Re: FF Tough Start/Sit Matchup Decisions for 2011.
OK, here are my questions for this week.
Romo vs NYJ or Freeman vs DET
Non PPR league: Tate vs IND (if Foster is out) or Wayne vs HOU
PPR league, start 1: Tolbert vs MIN, McGahee vs OAK, S. Smith (CAR) vs OAK
Re: FF Tough Start/Sit Matchup Decisions for 2011.
Also, I would suggest to everyone who is listing questions to please include if it is a PPR or non PPR league, or any special scoring as that can be a big factor in decisions.

If Foster is out, I'd play Tate.
For the other 3, I'd probably play Steve Smith. Carolina is actually playing Arizona, and their secondary is nothing special. I think Carolina will be down and need to throw.
Re: FF Tough Start/Sit Matchup Decisions for 2011.
PPR League - pick 2
Ray Rice vs Steelers
LeGarrette Blount vs Lions
Shonn Greene vs Jets
Reggie Bush vs Patriots
I'm leaning toward Bush and Blount. It's hard to bench Rice, but he only had 100 total yards against the Steelers last year in 3 games. I'm hoping Bush will be used heavily in the passing game

1. Freeman looked awful in the preseason, but he was a fairly consistent fantasy QB down the stretch last season -- Romo also has Revis Island to deal with, and overall a much better secondary to face against NYJ.
I'd go Freeman at home, but I think this is a coin flip really.
2. With Tate you have two major issues -- 1, the possibility that Arian Foster might actually play (monitor that situation very closely) and 2. the fact that Derrick Ward is going to get the start if Foster is out. I expect Tate will get touches, but no idea how many.
I'm not as scared of Kerry Collins as a lot of people apparently are. He's not in Manning's universe, but he's probably good for 20 TDs over the course of a season, and I'd expect Wayne to get the ball a lot.
Start Wayne.
3. If Newton does anything on offense, it'll be pushing the ball downfield for a big play. That means Steve Smith will be involved. I'd give him the nod over Tolbert.

Don't overthink things here -- Rice and Blount are the only two backs on that list who are guaranteed to see the ball consistently without the threat of another back stealing carries (the way Tomlinson will in NY and Thomas will in MIA).
I wouldn't have drafted Bush at all, but if I had him I certainly wouldn't play him until you get some sense of what he'll be doing in Miami's offense. If he's off the field on 1st and 2nd down with regularity, he's not someone you want tying up a spot that could go to an every-down back like Rice or Blount.

Rice is the goal line back now in Baltimore and there is no reason not to believe the coaches on this. He is set to have an unbelievable fantasy year, especially in PPR format which you said your league is.
Rice is a must start, even against the Steelers. Blount is a good bet to score from short yardage so I would go with him over the other 2 until Greene and Bush's roles are defined.
Re: FF Tough Start/Sit Matchup Decisions for 2011.
I think I already blew one. Started Roy Williams over Jordy Nelson and was going against Aaron Rodgers! I almost started Jordy but I just wasn't sure where he was gonna end up in the GB WR pecking order, should have went with my gut. Here's to hoping Roy Williams actually does something this weekend. Will probably have to start Nelson from here on out though because Colston is out for about 4 weeks. Was already thin here.
Re: FF Tough Start/Sit Matchup Decisions for 2011.
ESPN now saying Foster is unlikely to play today. Glad I snatched up Ward.

Same here, but it still killed me, should have also picked up Tate I guess. I lost Colston mid game, lost Ward too soon and failed to start Nelson even though my gut said so. I lost by a stinking point, this is same story different year for me.
