Sam's problem is eager to figure out:
Needs to ditch the full beard and go back to the second best mustach in baseball
Because of his success last season, especially in the playoffs, LeCure has been thrust into a more important role in the bullpen. He's now being called on to pitch in a more pressurized 7th, 8th, and 9th innings instead of long man or mop-up guy. For the last couple of weeks, he hasn't done his job. Maybe his ceiling has been reached?
And Twitter is the same way. I mostly follow news organizations and journalists who work for news organizations.
If you follow anybody and everybody, you're going to get a Twitter feed full of stuff laced with profanity, slackronyms and misspellings that makes you: a) wistful for the bananaphone and b) fearful for the future of the republic.
I follow quite a few people on Twitter and I rarely see some of the garbage that you guys are talking about so I think it really depends on WHO you follow as to what your timeline will look like. I don't even see a lot of swearing unless it's during a Reds game and a few fans I follow are reacting in real time to stuff that happens there. I have rarely had any problems with Twitter but it could be that I just don't follow the idiots and therefore keep a lot more of my sanity when I'm there, LOL
BTW-Sam is one of the most even keeled, positive, and upbeat baseball guys I've seen on Twitter (and I follow quite a few of them, both Reds and non Reds players) so if he's responding this way to something, it had to have been REALLY bad because he just doesn't tweet or interact with the fans that way on a normal basis. :(
Twitter is what you make of it.
If you only follow Bloomberg News, The Wall Street Journal, and Jim Kramer, then you only get investing/financial news. You never have to see who is "sipping on a latte with my fuzzy dog on my lap" type of news.
I only really follow reputable news sources. My twitter is for informational purposes only...I don't even follow my best friends, because that is not what it is for, for me.
I also don't find anything wrong with what he said, though I would typically be in the "keep your mouth shut" camp.
Maybe he'll have a Bruce like run after this. Maybe Jay suggested it? Maybe Sam got that Life Coach that Jay suggested too???
Bullpen gives up 2 runs in 7.2 innings: "They sky is falling"
Mat Latos gives up 4 runs in 6 innings: "Unluckiest dude ever"
God forbid any of us combines an elite skill with an elite work ethic in a highly competitive field. There are posters here who'd argue we'd forfeit the privilege of being affected by others' comments about us.
