Re: I was wrong about...(minor league edition)
Wrong in a good way:
Travis Wood, Chris Heisey, Juan Francisco
Wrong in a Bad Way:
Neftali Soto, Pedro Viola, Sean Henry
Seemed Wrong, but still may be right:
Danny Dorn

I would attribute Valaika's injury to his lack of success.

Because it was his wrist. Strength and quickness would seem to be a large factor with such an injury and hamper his bat speed/control.

I predicted Buchholz would finish at AA and OPS .950 at the two levels.
Horst would emerge as the top LHP in the minors
Valaika would put in a solid year and get a September call.
Dorn would hit over 20 home runs.
I was totally surprised by:
Rojas...I did not think he would ever hit.
Klinker (did not see him as a starter prospect), Del Rosario (did not see solid ground ball tendency, good middle relief prospect), and Ondrusek (I saw him as filler)
Sappelt and Oliveras (did not see them as serious outfield prospects)

Henry has been battling an injury all season.
Re: I was wrong about...(minor league edition)
Not having been a RZ member this time last year and buying everything Tom Brennaman said led me to being wrong in thinking that the Reds had one of the best farm systems in baseball.

Valaika broke his hand punching a water cooler. He was struggling badly before he did that.

Oops my memory seems to be bad. I guess it can explain struggles after his return, who knows before the injury though.

He has done that at every level. He struggles when he usually gets called up to a level for a time and then he hits. I'd say at this point it's neither one way or the other. But I have seen enough from him to believe he will get back to his hitting ways eventually. But that's just my opinion.
I was wrong about RZ minor league forum being a place where people would come to get the truth about the minors so they wouldn't have to be uninformed about the future of the Reds. People see what they want and toss facts aside as if they are mere opinions. Because a guy does this or does that statistically speaking he is stamped usually prematurely one way or the other. If there are facts to support that great, but without facts at this level you aren't neccessarily wrong or right. If we all learn one thing about the minors I hope that it's a fluid process and if you have the talent and eventually the skill you are legit, if you don't you aren't. The stats are a really bad way to make this assesment by themselves.
Re: I was wrong about...(minor league edition)
I don't think anyone lets stats alone tell them what they think about a player.

There are those who lend too much credence to them. How many people believe Mes is a bust (for example) and all they are going off of is his overall numbers and very little of anything else?
Re: I was wrong about...(minor league edition)
My 2 cents...
There's a rush to judgment on minor leaguers here. Generally, it's to characterize them as failures in one way or another. Easy position to take, because most fail -- either outright, or fail to meet expectations created by dramatic press clippings. If you want to be right a lot, be patient and objective.
Re: I was wrong about...(minor league edition)
I thought Dallas Buck was going to have a big breakout season and be the Reds top pitching prospect by season end. Unfortunately, injuries have kept him off the mound for the majority of the season.
Re: I was wrong about...(minor league edition)
I thought Sam Lecure would do better than he has. I still think there is more there than he has been able to show.

Convert to bullpen?
