Re: April 5, 2012 Minor League Game Updates
Janish with 2 HRs and Hamilton with a HR. Just as I predicted. (Nope.)
Re: April 5, 2012 Minor League Game Updates
Not saying I don't enjoy following the minors, but it is weird not having an uber-prospect in Louisville that I really try to keep an eye on.

What about that mustachioed man behind the plate?
Re: April 5, 2012 Minor League Game Updates
Billy Hamilton doing what he does: Reached base on an E1 (missed throw while covering first), stole second and took third on an errant throw into center field. Scored on a wild pitch.

All during the very next at-bat. I'm not usually one to make a huge deal about minor leaguers with speed, but if Hamilton can refine his hit tool, we could be looking at a very special player.
Sorta like this guy: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...amilbi01.shtml
Re: April 5, 2012 Minor League Game Updates
Bakersfield wins 3-1, despite having 4 hits as opposed to Visalia's 8. Hamilton responsible for all 3 runs, as well as both of Visalia's errors. No earned runs by our pitchers. Reds and the minor leagues get the opening day sweep, with only 3 earned runs across all levels! I'm just glad we're back in action. Good night, all.

You know, if I had to pick 5 players in the system right now who had a shot to become a hall of famer, I juuuuuust might stick Corky on the list, with all the talk of what a great manager he will be. ;)
Does he have the major league pedigree to be fast tracked as a big league manager though? I look forward to following him.
Re: April 5, 2012 Minor League Game Updates
This was a pleasant surprise. Guess I hadn't been paying close attention. I thought MiLB opened the Monday after MLB. Great job guys! I look forward to this almost as much as I do the actual Reds games (Almost)!
Re: April 5, 2012 Minor League Game Updates
Great first night in the bushes. I subscribed to MILB TV for the 1st time this year, and caught most of the Bats game (since I missed the Reds). It's a workmanlike squad with a bunch of guys who have a chance, still, to have more than AAAA careers, though they're slowly slipping that way. So...they may play with urgency.
I like that Francis is there as depth. Watching him throw to Corky Miller is a nice dose of professional baseball, even if it's AAA.
Hoover has solid stuff.
Janish hitting two HRs (after coming up empty last year) was surreal.
Frazier can use the reps at 3rd.
Columbus/Cleveland's got a reliever named Chen, from Taiwan, who is going to have a good major league career. Overmatched Valaika, Phipps and Frazier.
Re: April 5, 2012 Minor League Game Updates
hands down, this is my favorite parts of Redszone. Thanks for all those that regularly keep these updates going.
Re: April 5, 2012 Minor League Game Updates
The entire Reds organization (from Dayton to the Reds/5 teams) went 5-0, beating their opponents by a combined score of 21-6.
Pitching:
5-0
45 IP
29 H
6 R
3 ER
14 BB
49 K
.60 ERA
Pretty impressive.

If you have any questions about the Wahoo's stadium, a certain player, or why Joel Guzman still sucks, ask away.
Re: April 5, 2012 Minor League Game Updates
Janish deserved to make the big club. I understand theres only so many spots and he has options but man the guy seems to have come to play so far this year
Francis seems to have had a decent outing also. I have a feeling we will need him sometime this season.. starting or out of the bullpen.

I agree. But they went out and got Valdez, so that took precedent I guess.
