Draft begins at 1pm EST, correct?
I'm going to sticky this just to make it the "ooooooficial draft day thread of redszone."
Super General Prediction:
1. college bat
2. hs arm
3. college arm
4. hs bat
Never too early to start thinking ahead. I know this draft hasnt even started yet, but its looking more and more like the Reds are going to get a real high pick next year. Anyone know how next years class is stacking up?
I think the Reds should take LHP Brian Bogusevic from Tulane.
13-1 2 CG, 119.1 IP, 107 hits, 38 w 119k .239 BAA.
Positive waves everyone :D
I just don't want a bunch of reach picks based on finances. Kazmir would be in a Reds uniform today if the organization picked on talent.
I would like to see the Reds draft Jeremy Slayden, an OF from Georgia Tech with their 3rd or 4th round pick (John Sickels had him going to the Padres in the fourth round with pick # 128 in his mock draft yesterday).
He was drafted by the Padres in the 19th round coming out of high school and by the A's (I think in the 16th round) last year.
His career stats up to this year were:
Year G-GS AB R H Avg. 2B 3B HR RBI SLG% BB SO SB-A
2002 68-65 256 74 89 .348 15 1 18 66 .625 39 51 4-5
2003 62-59 218 44 64 .294 18 4 8 40 .523 26 54 2-5
2004 9-9 35 7 10 .286 1 0 1 8 .400 4 8 0-0
His stats for 2005 were:
AVG GP-GS AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SLG% BB HBP SO OB%
.353 49-46 187 48 66 8 0 12 56 .588 24 13 42 .456
He was the National Player of the Week for one week in March.
He would likely be the Red's best outfield prospect if he was drafted and subsequently signed.
But think of all the money we saved.. oops..wait a minute, Kazmir actually ended up signing for less than Gruler  .. proof that the Reds could've gotten Kazmir to take slot money.Quote:

Baseball America has the Reds taking Jay Bruce!?!?!? I dont want to post all of baseball america's first round projection(unless the masses want me too, just not too sure on the rules of that kind of thing.)
12. Reds: Jay Bruce, of, West Brook HS, Beaumont, Texas
The Reds would love to take a middle infielder here. In their wildest dreams, they'd get Tulowitzki, and they also have designs on taking Pennington. But if the Nationals, Rockies and Mets all pass on Bruce, Cincinnati will find him too tempting to do the same. Kentucky high school righthander Chaz Roe is a dark horse candidate.

So...uh...the Dbacks picked yet?
thank for the link 2844.
I'm hoping for that reliever Hansen, he could be the closer next year.
