Today the Reds optioned to Class AAA Louisville LHP Bobby Livingston and recalled from Louisville RHP Marcus McBeth
I'm happy to see McBeth but I didn't think they'd send down Bobby after that phenomenal start last night.
Well, can't say Im disappointed in seeing McBeth up
I'm not disappointed either, but who in the heck get's the next 5th slot, and who gets sent down??? This up and down BS can't be good on players and their confidence in the organization.
McBeth!!!!!! Hopefully he gets to pitch this time.
As Bearcat said, the Reds don't need a 5th starter until June 16. At that time, the Reds can call anyone up they want. They can even call Bobby up again at that time.
Wayne is just trying to maximize his roster, something I like.
McBeth is going to be good if he gets his chance. I really like him.
good move by wayne we don't need a 5th starter for awhile no sense for livingston to sit up here and get no work in he can go down to AAA and still start and im sure he'll be recalled up when we need teh 5th starter. Mcbeth should start gettin some of salmons innings after last nites walk a thon he put on.
True the 5th spot is open for a few cycles, but would it not be a good idea to let Arroyo miss a turn and give him some rest in hopes of getting him back on track?
Actually, it can't be Livingston
It could be Homer, and with those 3 choices, I hope it is him. If he has a good start tonight, I think it will be him.Quote:
With Bobby Livingston being optioned to Louisville Saturday, he won't be eligible to come back in time to pitch next Saturday. That's when the Reds need a fifth starter.
If not Livingston, who? There's a very good chance it will be Homer Bailey. The other choices are Phil Dumatrait or Victor Santos.
"It's going to come down to Dumatrait, Santos or Homer," Jerry Narron said.
Bailey went into tonight's start 5-1 with a 1.89 ERA. Dumatrait is 5-4 with 3.79 ERA and struggled in his last start.
Santos will be in the bullpen leading up to Saturday, so an outing or two could eliminate him from consideration.
"(Bailey's) got a chance," Narron said. "He's pitched well. I'd like to see him come here and pitch well and contribute. I think it's going to be hard for him to pitch as well as the fans expect."
The Reds play Cleveland at home Saturday, by the way.
Going by Krivsky's past comments, if Homer is called up, it's for good. So, I expect Santos to be the choice.
and let the speculation run rampat untill next saturday if im a betting man the game is at home and wayne wants a big crowd you'll see mr.bailey trot out to the mound to make his big league debut
It is not next Saturday it is two weeks from now.
