Goes by Wes, not John.
Throws 90-92. Curveball, slider and change.
Re: The Official Second Day Draft Thread - 2010
Matt den Dekker is a stud. Mets are having a good draft.

My older brother always claims Dickie Thon was a superstar in the making. I think he got hit in the head and it ruined his career though. Could be a nice story if the kid becomes a star.
Re: The Official Second Day Draft Thread - 2010
Additional text I got from LaMarre's former teammate:
"I'm so happy he's on the Reds. He thought he was gonna be a supplemental 1st round guy though so he's kinda pissed."
"He's a 6.8/60 guy so just barely in the 'plus speed' category."

Love "Gauntlet" references:thumbup:
Re: The Official Second Day Draft Thread - 2010
LaMarre's game kind of remonds me of Heisey.
Nothing wrong with that.
Re: The Official Second Day Draft Thread - 2010
I was curious to see what comments were made when Joey Votto was picked in 2002. Here's the thread. If you go to it and search "Votto," you'll read some of the same comments that are being made: "Overreach" and "are they related to the Reds scouts" etc. There were some posts that mentioned previews of him that were pretty head on. Interesting stuff. The point is that there are diamonds in the rough and players take paths that are at times unexpected.
Re: The Official Second Day Draft Thread - 2010
Quick question off topic, for those in the know what happened to Milton Lou? Spelling may be wrong. Hearing about the kid drafted from Hawaii reminded me of him. How good was he?
Re: The Official Second Day Draft Thread - 2010
Loo. He never made it past Rookie Ball. Scouts were high on him, Reds drafted him twice. Got homesick and quit baseball.
