Volquez to make first Reds start on Sunday
I thought Volquez was pitching on Saturday but the Reds website shows Harang pitching Saturday and Volquez on Sunday. That's a smart move if you ask me. That means Volquez will be sandwiched between Harang and Arroyo and Cueto between Arroyo and Josh Fogg. It's a good move because it separates the flame throwers from Arroyo and Fogg's soft stuff.
Here is the updated pitching probables:
Up next
• Thursday: Diamondbacks (Doug Davis, 13-12, 4.25 in 2007) at Reds (Johnny Cueto, first Major League appearance), 12:35 p.m. ET
• Friday: Phillies (Kyle Kendrick, 10-4, 3.87 in 2007) at Reds ( Josh Fogg, 10-9, 4.94 ERA in 2007), 7:10 p.m. ET
• Saturday: Phillies (Adam Eaton, 10-10, 6.29 in 2007) at Reds (Aaron Harang, 0-1, 3.00 in 2007), 1:10 p.m. ET
Volquez to pitch on Sunday.

Does this pit Volquez against Myers?

Fogg vs Kendrick... hope the defenses are ready.

Yep.
And Arroyo will face Cole Hamels on Monday. With these pitching matchups, the Reds should split the four game series at worst, and possibly win three of four.

I just wish that his debut was coming against somebody other than the Phillies. They saw him twice (if not three times, I can't remember) in the last couple weeks of Spring Training. They'll be ready for the change up.
It's an awfully tough first draw for the kid.

Agreed. I said the same thing last week. I don't care how good a pitchers stuff is, anytime you face the same team (especially a lineup the caliber of the Phillies) three or four times in a span of about three weeks, eventually they are going to figure something out. Hopefully Volquez proves us wrong.

That's good as I will be at the game on Sunday.
