Man, it sure is nice to see Joey Votto's name in the Reds lineup.

Indeed, I am glad (and surprised) that he is getting some starts this year.

He's getting almost all the starts vs. RH pitchers since he's come up.

Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Isn't it weird that Jerry Narron, a former catcher, always batted a his catcher 8th and now Mac, a former middle infielder, bats shortstops 2nd.
I really have no point here. Sorry.

That's a testament to Mackanin, not Wayne, however. Since Wayne was brutally hesitant to even bring him up. I'm glad Joey kicked the door down, was unwilling to be denied despite the FO's best efforts.

Yes he has and it's been great to see. I honestly did not think he'd get this much playing time. I've been pleasantly surprised.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
I think Mack said when Votto was brought up that he would receive the bulk of the playing time. So far he has and that's a good thing. We are seeing that he can do it on this level and that gives the Reds some good options for the off season.
LaRussa is playing genious again with the Cards lineup. Pitcher batting eighth and 2b batting 9th.

Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Wonder what the Cards TV team will be whining about in today's game since they already covered the following last night:
1. Brandon Phillips baseless complaints on Pujols
2. Why the word Great is used in GAB b/c there's nothing great about it - in fact it looks unfinished
3. How the Reds bullpen always implodes in the 8th and the same will happen today
4. Brandon Phillips is a hot dog the way he runs the bases after a HR
5. Jim Edmonds will be agreeable to a move to RF next season just like Junior was this year
6. Unlike the Reds, the great Cardinals fans show in good times and bad
and on and on and on with the usual Cardinals arrogance. I know some of what was said is true - I just don't need to hear it piped out all night long on a broadcast of a baseball game. Just call the game like you're supposed to.
I'll say it again - it's never a bad day when the Reds beat the Cards.

How do we explain La Russa batting pitchers 8th?

And it's a better week when they sweep them.
Here's to a sweep! :beerme:

I really thought they'd be off and running against Stinnett today.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
1,2,3 2nd for the Cards. Still 1-0 Bad Guys.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Votto singles and takes second on Edmonds error. Ross with a rare walk. Two on, two out for Harang.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Harang pops out to end the inning. Still 1-0 Cards after two.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Cards out in order in the third. 1-0 RedBirds.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Hopper singles then Kep hits into a DP.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Griffey singles and Phillips walks. Dunn up to hit a HR ( I hope).

It's shocking actually.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Dunn walks. Bases juiced for EdE.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
EdE pops out to waste another opportunity to get Wells. 1-0 Cards.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Kip Wells always looks like Don Drysdale when he pitches against Cincinnati.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
3 innings, 8 baserunners, 0 runs.
Hits with RISP, anyone?
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
8 baserunners in 3 innings + 2 double plays = 0 runs for the Reds.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Cards out in order. 1-0 Cards in the 4th.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Kep with SF to score Ross and tie the game at one in the 4th.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Griffey grounds out to PooHoles to end the 4th. Game tied at one after four.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Make that eleven baserunners in four innings. We should have three or four runs at least off Wells already.
-
Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Harangs K's the side in the 5th. That's 15 in a row for Harang. He's having some kinda game. Lets get some runs!

Re: 9.13.07 Cardinals at Reds
Save us Joey! Votto's third straight hit chases home two runs and the Reds lead 3-1.
