Here is part of the article's analysis of the move and its possible in-season impact.
Quote:
Votto's facial hair serves him well, in a Jeff Reardon-sort-of-way. And having a beard, as everyone knows, is worth four or five more home runs a season per 162 games played. It's too bad we'll never see him take this look to Great American Ball Park, even though the Reds dropped their strict no-facial-hair policy after 1999. It would attract too much attention to a guy who just likes to blend in.
Will this get a sticky?

....when I open this threrad with eager anticipation.
Re: You know we are in a slow part of the off-season
I have a shirt like that, but it's shaped differently. Votto's is wider at the top, but mine is wider at the bottom. I'm not sure why.

It is the lighting and angle of the picture :beerme:

Stupid shirt.

He's a handsome man.
Looks like a hockey player.

Those are two sentences rarely used together about the same man ;)
Re: You know we are in a slow part of the off-season
I was at midnight madness for UC for the infamous Dukie V. "I'll even throw in the books baby!", made halfcourt shot by a student.

Fixed that for ya... ;)
Hey, shouldn't the countdown to pitchers and catchers reporting begin around now?

Do you think Brawny will soon sponsor him?

Hehe, he had most of that beard at Redsfest (see below) but thanks for thinking of me. Seeing a picture of Joey today helps me forget about the fact that I was sick as all get out yesterday. :D

Re: You know we are in a slow part of the off-season
It's not the beard that's getting my attention...it's that miniature mohawk he seems to be trying for. Weird looking. Oh well, it IS the offseason. *grin*
Re: You know we are in a slow part of the off-season
Offseason over and the big question on Votto's condition is answered.
the beard is gone.

He's bending his knees. That's a good sign. :)

Try wearing the shirt inside out.
I, for one, am glad the beard is gone. It is a known fact in baseball that people with beards hit pop-ups. You can't show me one that hasn't, can you?
Re: You know we are in a slow part of the off-season
Also looks just a little bit like Franco Harris' overall facial hair ensemble IMO.

Maybe it's a sign that the Reds will get "two for the thumb?!" (WChamps in 1919, 1940, 1975, 1976, 1990, and 2013?)

You know we are in a slow part of the offseason when: You'll endure Kevin Millar and Mitch Williams just to get a baseball fix.
