Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
I predict this to be the single most neglected game thread ever.

Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
It's that silly pigskin thing again, isn't it.
We seem to be approaching some sort of lineup stability. Other than switching catchers and pitchers, this lineup is the same as the last few days.

Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Last night the REDS bats looked awfully inconsistent against a Jeff Suppan who "looked" (looks can be deceiving) wild and very hittable.
Villanueva supposed to start today for Brewers. Kid can bring it, hopefully that heat will be more to the taste of our hitters.

Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Doesn't help that FSN is showing such spectacles as billiards and beach volleyball instead.
Then again, not sure I blame them. Gotta be cheaper.

I think a few years ago a Josh Hall September start didn't even get a thread, just a recap post in the previous days game thread

Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
The game is not on DirecTV today either. It is on MLB.com though.

Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Norris Hopper walks on 4 straight.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Keppinger lines a single to center. Norris almost forced at 2nd.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Griffey Ks swinging on one high and outside.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Griffey K's and looked bad doing it...
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew

Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Brandon Phillips pops to short. 2 down, 2 on.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Dunner gets to full count, then walks.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
EE pops out to Fielder. Nothing....
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
It takes a lot of OBP to strand a lot of runners.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
EE has had all kinds of issues with IF pop ups this year. I'd love to hear from a scout what he's doing, because it's got to be mechanical. Dropping his back shoulder maybe?
Just seems like he's trying to kill the ball instead of just put good wood on it.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Belisle starts with 2 K's
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Weeks Ks.
Counsell Ks.
Dillon Ks.
Belisle topping out around 93 today so far.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Reds go quietly, then Belisle gets his 4th straight K

Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Even in a lost season, I am liking the Reds more than the Bengals. I am entirely unimpressed with the Bengals D.
Belisle impressing so far.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Belisle with 6Ks in 2 IP.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
What Bengals D?
After 5 K's, a walk and SB then the 6th K !!
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Belisle in the 2nd:
Ks Fielder.
K's Hart.
Hardy walks.
Estrada Ks.
Belisle 6 Ks in 2 innings!
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
What is the record for strikeouts in a 9 inning game? It seems implausible that Belisle will continue this pace, but I am curious.

I would be shocked if he gets more than 10. Happy, but shocked.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Keppinger lines to thrid.
Griffey lines a single to right.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Thanks to TexasDave for the PM, the record is 20Ks in a 9 inning game.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Phillips flies out to fairly deep right.
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Belisle gets 1st out on FO...... he's a bum
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
I think the Brewers scored...
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
uggh. My grandma has more range than Griffey. He's a glorified DH right now.

I think I liked it better when Belisle was not pitching to contact.

Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
Reds record for Ks in a 9 inning game. 16 for Jim Maloney on 5-21-63, Noodles Hahn 5-22-01, Ron Villone (Surprise) - 9-20-00.
Bob Uecker with the understatement of the year: "Jr without the range he once had ..."
-
Re: 9/16/07 Reds v. Brew Crew
with 2 outs... a walk and an opposite field single. Followed but sharp opposite field single that got by Griffey for double.
