i think Norwegian and Swedish and Danish language lyrics fit black metal best.
not a big fan of black metal, i like melodic black metal a whole lot more. i would say that the only black metal bands i truly enjoy are Bal-Sagoth and Cradle of Filth.
i've always been amazed that Bal-Sagoth isn't much, much bigger among the black/death metal world than what they are, but i guess it's because they don't cover anything resembling normal black/death metal content.

I can't believe I feel compelled to put this disclaimer on a heavy metal thread, but it is RZ: be warned adult lyrics ahead.

Good cathartic energy!
Anybody check out Heavy Metal Television yet?

No, but I am now. I will check in later.
It is worth checking out.
I am only an hour in, but it has a wide range of "heavy metal" from Led Zeppelin, The Scorpions and Disturbed to Metallica, King Diamond and Iced Earth. It is clearly heavier than anything on the radio, but to call everything heavy metal is quite a stretch.
The early return gives it a 6.5 out of ten. It is clearly listenable for a hard rock/heavy metal fan, but it has no discernable flow to it.
I'm really not sure how I hadn't heard of these guys until recently: Volbeat
This is a pretty cool song:

I saw the following bands this past week on Black Friday. Great show.
Insomnium-One for Sorrow

A little heavier than my usual listen, but they were excellent live.
Alestorm-Shipwrecked

Weird. Good. Fun. Alestorm seems to enjoy beer, ale and rum. How can that not be good?
Epica-Serenade of Self-Destruction

I know I have already posted Epica, but after seeing them, again, on Friday I felt it would be OK. Simone is awesome.
