Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
I seriously can not watch Jerry Narron manage this team anymore.
Will Marcus McBeth ever pitch? He brings wild Burton in for the 9th instead of him.
McBeth is a better pitcher then Burton. Simple as that. I say that will 100% confidence.
Narron just baffles me. He frusterates me to a point where I can't take it anymore.
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
he is a winner; haven't you digested the latest bromide from the "front office"
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
Totally agree, except I'm neutral on McBeth over Burton. The reason for that is simple, I have no clue what McBeth has in real life, for obvious reasons, as you stated.
To put it simply, we deserved to lose tonight. 2 for 17 with RISP is simply disgusting. STL is not a good team this season, but they are good enough to drive in a needed run when granted a walk. The Reds are not. Welch is right when he says it was a "team effort" tonight, a team effort for a loss.
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
Harang and Castro left 5 LOB each.
When you throw out a lineup that features Ross, Castro, and the pitcher at the bottom, you are going to leave tons of men on base.
The fact that he hit the two best on base men lately in front of the black hole, compounds the problem.
Tomorrow's lineup should be:
Hatteberg 1B
Edwin 3B
Griffey RF
Dunn LF
Phillips 2B
Hamilton CF
Gonzalez SS
Ross C
Narron goes through pitchers like toliet paper too, yet he refuses to pitch McBeth.
He has no business being the manager of this team, and how Krivsky can't see that is beyond me.
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
Game thoughts......I wish I had the last 3 hours back I wasted on this game.
We start our best pitcher against a "bullpenner" and still lose.
That nun was a looker back in the day...
Ross and Taco are horrible defensively....
I got to get that thing on my toe taken off....
The reason Griffey did not pinch hit in the 9th is?.....
I hope Stinnett is ok....got hit in the neck....
Dunn broke like 10 bats tonight....
7 hits for the Reds tonight....2-17 with RISP...the Dragons could of done better, seriously.....
Did I close the garage door?.....

missed it...Tuesday is "The Shield" night....had the game muted on split screen...thanks.
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
Just wondering if anyone has the numbers... how many times have the Reds left the bases loaded this year? 2 times tonight.
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
I want to know what Jerry Narron has against Marcus McBeth.
Fay and Trent both said similar things in their blogs, hopefully they man up and ask Jerry in the locker room.
And you know McBeth will be sent down Firday when Homer comes up. You also know Narron will say it's because he hasn't pitched in awhile. I WONDER WHY JERRY?
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
Bottom line is....losing teams go out of their way to find new ways to lose.
The last two games certainly proves that.
Or as Welshie so eloquently put it...."tonight was a team effort"
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
"Pathetic" is the only way to describe it. So many missed opts.
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
This Reds team has that important Killer Instict. You know......the suicidal kind.

If I could still give rep points, I'd give you mine for the day. As I've said before, Narron is an in-the-box thinker, in fact, he's so far in the box, he's ready to be packaged and shipped off to another organization...soon, very soon.

Narron will never manage again in the major leagues, you can count on that.
Re: Reds-Cardinals Game Thoughts
:bang: I still do not understand Narron's love affair with Burton. :mooner:
He pitched at a lower level last year than our own homegrown relievers and guys in Lville who did well then and continue to do well with the Bats.
Bats update :beerme:
ps Salmon pitched last night for the Bats,
1 inning
no runs
10 pitches 9 strikes, 1 wild pitch (got the batters attention)
1K, 1 Hit, 2 ground outs
pss Sarloos pitched the night before
2 innings
no runs
1 hit
1 bb
2K
24 pitches 16 strikes (no chin music)
There was a good reason that he spent last year in AA, Jerry just hasn't figured out that it was because that was the level where he was competitive.
Yes, I understand that he is a Rule 5 guy, but if you look at the stats since the last rule 5 rule change, being a R5 guy in no way guarantees that you will do well in the bigs.
:thumbdown
By all observations so far he has not shown me anything that would justify him taking up a roster spot for the entire season.
