The Stone Roses, "I Want to be Adored."
Their self-titled debut album is awesome. The second one isn't bad either.

One of those bands that most people have never heard of. I had two of their CDS, lost them in a move and then picked up their greatest hits about a year ago. Great stuff. "I have a dream, I’ve seen the light Don’t put it out, say she’s alright, yeah,Quote:

she’s my sister."
Some things that have been in and out of my CD player the past week:
System of a Down - The screaming vocals and driving music mixed with some of the best pop hooks around make for something very cool. And tough to describe to anyone.
Springsteen: Devils and Dust
Foo Fighters - In Your Honor - this one hasn't caught on with me yet, but it will.
Coldplay: X & Y. Shouldn't like them but I do. Hopefully another generation's U2 - I don't mind being too old for great music.
Can't forget Manchester in the eighties.Quote:

:)
And for those folks in Clermont and Brown counties, Better than Ezra is the same band you know as "Gooder than Ezra."Quote:

Oh relax. I lived there myself. :)
Bob Marley's "Natty Dread" is playing now, off the "Songs of Freedom" box set.
If you do not own the "Songs of Freedom" box set, go get it now. I'll wait here.
EDIT: And in a strange coincidence, as I was typing the above, another Stone Roses song cycled on. Doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo.
LVJ, that album is awesome.
I like "I want to be adored" too
I've been listening to the new The National album, Alligator. It's pretty good.
You can hear it in it's entirety here:

Also if you feel in the mood for something really "out there", check out Antony and the Johnsons. Basically, Antony is a tranvestite caberet singer with a pretty good sized cult following. He even got Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed, Devendra Banhart to help out on his new album. Here is an mp3:

Here it is boys, throw out whatever is in your cd player and go grab this immediately:

14 tracks worth of Celtic/Punk/Folk rock.
Hells yeah.Quote:

Love 'em. And easy to play on the guitar! First time listen will turn most people off. You just have to "get it" with SOAD. All 3 CDs (the original ones) are kickin' stuff IMO.Quote:

Siren--Roxy Music
On heavy rotation. "Whiyurrrrrrrrrrrlwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind!"
I took my System of a Down CD out yesterday and put in Ronnie Milsap. The biggest U-turn in the history of music.
Kiss MTV Unplugged
It's a great CD. Kiss sounds completely different unplugged

Oh yeah, I've seen it. The rise and fall of the Hacienda. Makes me wish I'd grown up in Madchester in the late 80s/early 90s.Quote:

Longwave - There's A Fire
Doves - Some Cities
Interpol - Antics
Orange Peels - Circling The Sun
Kasabian - self titled
In my experience, I've never found a bad who's stuff is easier to play than System of a Down. Good stuff.Quote:

I really like his solo CD as well - especially songs like Follow My Way, When I'm Down, Preaching. Any particular songs you like off the new album? Personally I love #1 Zero and Heavens Dead.Quote:

Cornell is so talented. This was obvious to me when I first heard Soundgarden playing stuff like Rusty Cage & Outshined. Kim Thaiyl, the lead guitar player for Soundgarden, was a decent player. But I think Morello takes Cornell to a different level with his unique style of playing. And with Cornell's songwriting/singing abilities it takes Morello to a different level that he was not able to experience with Rage singer Zach De Larocha. A GOOD MIX!
Nice pick, '62. Any DT CD is going to be a good one IMO! I am a big fan... enough that I bought a guitar that was autographed by the band off of ebay. That was the "I am single and have money to burn days"! Still have that special guitar though. I last saw them live at Annie's Outdoor (Cincy) a few years ago w/ Queensryche. Amazing musicians.Quote:
