Monday 8-8-11 Minor League Updates
There was some serious O'Rear kicking in Arizona: nine runs in 1.1 IP. The AZL Reds lost 9-6 after considerably better luck for Cesar Caceras and Carlos Ramos.
It's been a little frustrating that they seem to sit Brandon Dailey so often and hit him ninth other times, like today. But I suspect it's because they want to give the older guys, the new college draftees, a thorough look as quickly as possible. Bryson Smith led off today and tripled. Steve Selsky, hitting cleanup, doubled and homered.
Miguel Rojas was 2-4 with a double. He must be about ready to return to Carolina--unless, with Cozart gone, they elect to move him all the way up to Louisville and leave Gregorius as the AA shortstop.

Louisville and Carroll were crushed, 11-3. Phipps homered.
Re: Monday 8-8-11 Minor League Updates
Villarreal had a rough start. Carolina goes down 7-3.
Re: Monday 8-8-11 Minor League Updates
Dayton got a 3-hit, 11-K shutout from Mitch Clarke (6 IP), Daniel Wolford, Blaine Howell and Drew Hayes, and David Vidal's 16th HR, for a 3-0 win. Torreyes was 0-5.
Re: Monday 8-8-11 Minor League Updates
Home runs by Waldrop and Wright have Billings up 3-0 in the seventh. Mugarian has 10 K. Kurt Muller is 3-4.
Edit: They just took away an inning and a K from Mugarian. He fanned 9 in 6 IP (2 H, 2 BB). Kemp in.
Re: Monday 8-8-11 Minor League Updates
Tim Crabbe off to a good start for Bakersfield: 4 IP, 1 H, 5 K. Brodie Greene has a HR and it's 2-0 in the fifth.
Re: Monday 8-8-11 Minor League Updates
Pinckard closes it out for Billings, 3-0.

He's taking it well and it is the case of getting new and older guys a look He's only nineteen lots of time and the coaches have a good feel for what he can do.
