Or perhaps you just know this off hand but I was wondering who has the most home runs ever WITHOUT having a 40 homerun season to their credit?

After looking at the all time list, I'm pretty sure it's Eddie Murray with 504, high of only 33 in a season.

Nope - HAnk had 40+ 8 times, with 40, a few 44's and 47 one time.

Dang that's right, funny how they all seem to be in that time frame too

Thanks guys. I was just thinking at work 'ya know, Jay Bruce is so young and has plus power but I'm just not sure if he'll hit 40 in a year' then I thought I wonder who had the most bombs without ever hitting 40. I honestly thought the number would be between 300 and 400 but I was wrong. Hopefully I'm wrong about Bruce never hitting 40, too.
