Prospects Value ($$)
Looking at the list I wonder what an open market transfer value for our top 10 or so is?
If the Red's could just sell Billy Hamilton's contract on the open market, like soccer in europe, what would he fetch or the rest of our top 10 for that matter.
My initial guess for Billy Hamilton be about $15 mil.... for controlling him at a reasonable salary.
Part of why I bring this up is just for the RZ prospect ranking, at 28 I cast a vote for Pedro Villareal, not because I think he'll be great, but I think he could actually start for the Red's a few games this year, and his worth as a potential 7th starter at his salary may be at about a million right now, which seems much higher than many of the other higher ceiling guys about now.
Anyone want to take a venture at quantifying value's for our top 10 or so?
Re: Prospects Value ($$)
There are studies out there that give an approximate value of a prospect over his first 6 years of professional service time when they are graded "X" by John Sickels or Baseball America. That would be a good place to start looking.
