Cingrani threw mostly fastballs last year. I don't think the book matters much with him. It is more of a "see ball, hit ball" situation and the hitters have trouble seeing the ball.

No hostility, just joshing about Arroyo's reputation with the ladies.

Yep, Bailey's the guy the Reds should trade if they sign Arroyo. He'll bring back the most, and is the least likely to re-sign.

Except Bailey is the only pitcher I'd trust when the post season series comes and you need someone to win Game 1 and come back and win Game 4. Why trade the one horse who will carry you across the finish line?

Time to move on.
If the Reds have, say, $5 million to pay Arroyo, I'd rather they used it for a good fourth outfielder.
Yea, I originally wanted them to make Arroyo a QO, but I guess Walt knows more than me.
With money apparently tight as it is, the Reds would've likely been forced to dump one of Leake/Latos/Homer if he accepted, and then shed even more salary, as those guys all make under 12 million. (Trading one starter wouldn't be catastrophic if Arroyo is there to replace them, but shedding another 4-5 million might've been painful). And the starter traded would've had to get minor leaguers in return.. no money to bring on an established OF for example.

He could probably bring a whole sack of them. Possibly some baseballs too.

I think you're selling him a bit short.

He's a 3.45 ERA guy and a ~100 pts of OPS better on the road than he is at GABP, so maybe he has more worth elsewhere than he does here.
As it is, he's a decent 4 / good 5 guy -- nice to have on your team, but nothing anyone is going to blow you away to acquire.

A 3.45 is a 4/5 guy now? I mean, that's almost what Mat Latos is.
Re: Bronson Arroyo says he hasn't received a single offer
When you see Arroyo still on the market and then look at what the Twins did this winter (Nolasco, Hughes, Pelfrey), it's like that team purposefully tried to destroy itself.

That home park is where fly balls go to die. Bronson would have flourished there.
The dummies.
Re: Bronson Arroyo says he hasn't received a single offer
Hiroki Kuroda: same age, better pitcher... 1 year deal.
Get over it, Arroyo.

3.45 would be awesome.
Trouble is, he pitches half his games at home where his ERA is 4.50.

Random hostility. Bronson wrongly has a reputation as a womanizing party animal.
I've met him several times, I work in that industry, and a few friends of mine are good friends with him.
it's all rumor and hearsay. He's been in my bar several dozen times over the years. I've never seen him drunk, he often doesn't drink at all, and he frequently hangs out without even talking to women.
Re: Bronson Arroyo says he hasn't received a single offer
I like the idea of signing him to a 2 yr deal. This just in - homer walks at the end of 2014
