Re: Space Above and Beyond
I actually like the zero-G space battles on the new "Battlestar Galactica" better than the ones on "Space: Above and Beyond." And the "BG" pilot episode/movie in which Starbuck and Apollo take on about a thousand Cylon raiders...wow.
But I did really enjoy the gritty reality of "S:AAB." It was my second favorite Sci-Fi series, behind "BG."
Re: Space Above and Beyond
Haven't seen "Space: Above and Beyond," though I find it hard to believe it's better than "Farscape."
Cutting edge effects are great, but I like story, script and acting more.
Re: Space Above and Beyond
Haven't seen it either, but Farscape is the best SciFi I've ever seen.

Re: Space Above and Beyond
Here's another vote for Farscape. Greatest Sci-Fi series ever.
Re: Space Above and Beyond
If Buffy counts, then Buffy is the greatest.
If not, then...uh...I'd have to think about it.
Re: Space Above and Beyond
M2 you have got to find an episode of S:AAB. The acting is far better than farscape, the writing was too. FOX kept moviing it's timeslot, so it never had a chance. Also from what i hear it was very expensive to shoot.
But It's my favorite. I hope it someday comes to DVD.

Galactica and S:AAB have those in spades. Plus the absence of heavy alien makeup, CGI monsters, and rubber puppets makes those two series seem less removed from reality than Farscape (which I did like).

Absolutely!
Trivia: Full-scale models of the "Hammerhead" fighters used in the series were created and shipped from Japan. While they were being stored on board the freighter before shipping, crewmen from a Russian freighter were caught taking pictures of them after mistakenly thinking they were a new kind of advanced U.S. tactical fighter.
Here are some video clips
