Huggins story from Paul Keels

This was in the Canton Rep today. Funny.

Quote:

“I goofed up big-time,” Keels said at Four Winds restaurant, recalling one broadcast. He had invited two women he was dating to the same game. It was too late to do anything but arrange for them to be seated on opposite sides of the arena. The clock hit triple zeroes. Both women appeared near where Keels was running the post-game show.

“During a break, I explained my dilemma to Bob,” Keels said. “Bob told me, ‘We’re gonna stay on the air until one of ’em leaves, or both do.’ And we did.”

Sounds like a bad plot for a sitcom.

Not the type of role model for college age basketball players to follow.

Keels was the one with two dates, not Huggins.

No, it was Huggins. Have you seen Keels? He couldn't get two date if he had to.

To quote Keels ... "During a break, I explained my dilemma to Bob ..."

You know what...I think you're right...after reading the story again, I think it was Keels' who had the two girls at the game. How in the world he got two dates...who knows?

Right. The original story had "he" in there instead of "Huggins" so it was clearly referring to Keels.

The Canton Rep story stated that "he" (not Huggins) was the one who invited two ladies to the same game.

I thought - and this is a crazy thought, UC fans can correct me - that Huggins was clearly devoted to his wife. Bob Knight's second wife has really been more visual and I hear Bob talk about that. Huggins did the same thing, IIRC.

Dave Kindred wrote a book about Howard Cosell. In it he explains the number one person who could tell him to shut-up, the one person on how he should dress, his harshest critic. It was his wife Emmy.

Interesting what a better half can do for you.

Guys, I tried to fix everything. I think I misread it originally. It was Keels. See my edits.

Okay, my apologies to the Huggins family.
