Re: Belisle, Where art Thou?
I would much rather use Belisle as a starter than Williams. Actually just about anybody is better this side of Jimmy Haynes. I think Shackleford has been under used also. I thought he did a credible job last season and should be in there before White.
Re: Belisle, Where art Thou?
Shack got some use lately... I'd like to see it continue.
Also, hate to nitpick, but it's Matt, not Mark. He needs either to be our 5th guy, or else do some piggyback crap with Williams like the minors did last year. Williams should not be allowed to pitch 5 innings or more...
Re: Belisle, Where art Thou?
Could his lack of time on the mound be due to Narron using him as a long relief guy? There really hasn't been much work for long relief in awhile.
But I certainly agree that even with little need for long relief lately, he needs to get some work... otherwise, when he is needed for long relief he may be a bit rusty. They need to keep him oiled!

You would think after that diatribe, I would get his first name right  Nitpick away, that was sloppy of me.

It's somewhat dismaying when another technique to ruin a pitcher is named after a Red.
See Reith, Brian aka "reithed".

I was under the impression he was just bad, not mishandled.

In his rookie season the Reds left him to start 8 games where he went 0-7 with a 7.81 ERA. There was no reason to leave him around that long when he continually got hammered. It ruined his confidence.
So he was probably both bad and mishandled.

Fair enough.
