Re: The Baseball Analysts on Bailey and Janish
My hope is that by September the Reds are still in a race and the only way Bailey would see the GABP mound is if he is legitimately there best shot to win a (or more) game(s).

Re: The Baseball Analysts on Bailey and Janish
Interesting, but the Reds felt Homer Bailey was a "consolation" prize after Mark Rodgers and Jerry Sowers were taken with the 2 picks before them. The time between the Indians pick and the Reds pick that draft was long. It was also speculated the Reds really wanted Mark Rodgers and confirmed after the draft:eek: . I have a feeling the Reds "war room" was a mess, most likely O'brien overruled Renyolds who never drafted a HS pitcher in his career in the first round and took the 'polished delivery", though raw stuff arm over the HS SS and the quick signable college pitchers still left...............interesting to be sure.
While Bailey is hardly a done deal, just think the disaster "across the body" throwing Rodgers would have been......... |
Re: The Baseball Analysts on Bailey and Janish
Yeah, I remember hearing that about Rodgers and was kinda surprised they had preferred him all along to Bailey. I know Bailey has been far from consistent so far, but Rodgers hasn't been lighting it up in A-ball himself as some other recent high draft picks managed to do. Bailey was the harder thrower and had the much easier delivery to begin with. Rodgers offspeed stuff is more refined but we know Bailey has been working on his and if he has even an average change to go with his fastball and curve, we may really finally have close to an "ace". Of course, all this hinges on control.
