So now ... pick two

Given how the status quo has changed....

Who goes who stays from Standridge, Weathers and Yan.....

I say Yan just because he throws gas. Weathers is DFA'd and Standridge gets optioned.

What think ye ?

Standridge has been clocked at 95.....does Yan really throw harder? I think this BP tanked with the Yan acquisition......This guy has been toast where ever he has been.

DFA Yan and Weathers.....IMHO.

I hope that they dump Yan. I never did like that move. It takes alot more to get outs than a 96 mph fastball.

I thought Yan threw 93-95 ISH. If Standridge throws that hard, I see the two DFA's coming....

.... plus Ramirez is got to come back from Dayton and Claussen off the DL.

Mays is going to get DFA'd me thinks....

Standridge gets a bus ticket down I-71.

.... AND that not even thinking that Balfour and Wilson could try to get back before Sept.

Mays is one who HAS to go. I don't think Standridge can be sent down, because he was already removed off the 40-man this spring due to no options remaining and they had to add him back when he last came up. I'd much rather Standridge than Yan at this point. There's a chance Weathers is just injured, otherwise he went from decently-kinda-serviceable to AWFUL almost literally overnight several weeks ago.

If this scenario has, say, Yan and Mays being DFA'd, then Belisle would probably at least temporarily be the fifth starter when they need one. That would still leave Standridge, Mercker, Weathers, Coffey, Guardado and the two new acquisitions, Bray and Majewski as the seven-man pen.

Weathers is four steps below terrible.I would cackle maniacally if he got the boot. Yan can go with him. At least Standridge has some hope at a future.

Standridge is now out in my book. Everything was up tonight. He has 7 walks in 7 innings pitched. Not good enough control.

Mays will stay because he's Krivsky's boy. At least until Claussen's back.

Standridge is gone. He made the decision himself tonight.

Yan has not pitched badly for the Reds...yet.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Standridge DFA'd, and Weathers to the DL, I agree with others who think he might be hurt. Weathers can still be a serviceable middle inning guy. Yan should go, but he just got here.

Krivsky has been more than willing to get rid of OB's guys, rather than his own picks.

Mays, Standrige, and Weathers will go, I think.

Standridge definitely out the door. Especially after tonight. Can think of maybe one good outing all year. Weathers, Mercker...you know, I think there is a possibility that someone else might have some interest in these old work horses. Even if we could get some youngster with possible upside, someone could bite. But I don't think both of them will last the year. I don't see them giving up on Yan so soon. Mays might last until Claussen gets back, but not a moment longer. I could see him getting a shot at a long relief gig between now and then if someone implodes early.

Mays will start on Monday. Standridge and Yan should start packing.

Strandridge back down to Louisville and Mays DFA would be my preferred move. It depends on if Wayne is going to stick with Mays in the bullpen until Claussen is ready to come back though. Yan's live arm might keep him around, and Weathers still may be servicable. Standridge should be a for sure though, his command isn't there yet to be up here.

Mays warming up behind Milton tonight should be a strong indicator that his rotation experiment is over (thank God).

Reds are off Monday and 5th starter spot will be skipped. The following Monday is an off-day also, the 24th, but someone will have to be the 5th starter the 22nd vs Mil, and I seriously doubt it will be Mays.
