What inspired your avatar?

I thought in the spirit of this thread that perhaps some folks would like to see why we have the avatars we do. In my case in a game thread during Spring Training we were mocking the Reds and it brought back memories of the 1964 Beatles movie A Hard Day's Night in where a reporter asked Ringo Starr if he was a mod or a rocker and he replied that he was a mocker. :)

Up until yesterday, I had Kearns batting. But I changed to an early promo photo of Duran Duran (actually my first avatar, IIRC).

I'm a big fan of the DoggFather, Snoop Dogg. His quotes crack me up. I've had numerous avatars over the years, everthing from Tattoo from fantasy island, Gary Coleman from Diff'rent Strokes, Spicoli from Fast Times, and on and on. Rest assured that my avatar will always contain something that makes me laugh. As the current one does, Chevy Chase as Fletch, well actually in a dream montage where he plays for the Lakers.

6'5, 6'9 with the Afro.

On Reds Broadcasts in the early '70's, Jim McIntyre/Al Michaels/Joe Nuxhall would proudly proclaim that with every Reds homerun that player would get a barrel (or 55 gallons) of Super M Marathon gasoline.

From 1970-1972 Johnny Bench alone got 112 barrels of Super M. That's 6,160 gallons of gas. A 1970 Buick Century had a 20 gallon fuel tank. That's 308 fill-ups.

Imagine that street value today.

Oh BTW - My avatar changes a few times a year. Just depends on what the feeling is that week/day/month

Those spring training game threads were a riot. Almost made listening to Andy Abad boot ground balls tolerable.

My avatar, like my previous one, is an homage to my alma mater Tulane University of Louisiana and their reputation as one of the top collegiate baseball programs in the nation.

Roll Wave.
