ADVICE: Catcher Needed
 

I lost Joe Mauer to the DL. I need to replace him while he's out and the choices that are on the waiver wire don't exactly blow me away.

Please note I'm in a H2H league with R, HR, RBI, SB and OBP as the offensive categories. Here are the suspects I'm looking at but feel free to name others that I have not noted:

John Buck, KC
Johnny Estrada, MIL
Michael Barrett, CHC
Jason Varitek, BOS (currently on waivers)
Paul Lo Duca, NYM

Thoughts?

Pick up Doumit from the Pirates... I've got him in both of my leagues and he is the man. Ride him out while you can.

Barrett has some good numbers posted so far this year, I doubt he will keep it up but I am sure he will continue until Mauer gets off the DL. Plus the Baby bears are starting to play better.

Thanks but ESPN lists him only as a 1B at this time. I'll keep an eye on him though.

Same thing happened to me I picked up Buck. Don't know if I'm going to stick with him or not.

I picked up Estrada for today. The Brewers play the Nationals so I like his chances. I then put in a claim for Varitek who comes off waiver tomorrow. I like Varitek's numbers over the last two weeks and hope he keeps that pace up while Mauer is out.

I had Mauer, too. I picked up Bengie Molina two days ago and had him in my starting lineup for his big day vs. the Mets yesterday. Lucky me.

I got Varitek off of waivers but did not get him in my lineup yesterday so I missed out on his 4-4 night with 3 runs and a HR. :bang: Oh well! Hope he continues to hit.

I had the same situation with Mauer. I picked up Lo Duca because he is hot now. Lo Duca is hitting .444 over the last week.

Lo Duca isn't bad... also Buck has played well this season.

With my luck, those are the only points Molina will score for me.
