Somebody explain to me how this is good managing?
Look who Narron has Dunn sandwhiched between in the lineup tonight.
4. Conine (sub 300 OBP this year) 5. Gonzalez (right around 300 OBP for his career) 6. Dunn 7. Castro (4-34 this year) 8. Ross (35 Ks, 3 BBs) Just wow. Just wow. This GM and the manager are just wow. |

Re: Somebody explain to me how this is good managing?
With Krivsky in attendance tonight, Ol Jerry must be begging to get fired.

Re: Somebody explain to me how this is good managing?
Maybe Castellini will retract that vote of confidence he gave Narron yesterday.

Re: Somebody explain to me how this is good managing?
You mean you question the logic of putting your best player who's putting up a 286/384/635 line in the 6 hole? Bold, I tell ya.

Re: Somebody explain to me how this is good managing?
How about having Gonzalez bunt with two men on and no outs in the 9th, and Dunn coming up after him? Even if it works, Dunn gets pitched around because Castro and Ross are no protection.
Baffling. |

It's stunts like that that make it easy to understand how he gets outmanaged on a consistent basis.

Re: Somebody explain to me how this is good managing?
He's looks like a boy among men out there. We need another pony league coach, he would be better suited for that job.

What's baffling is how two threads about the same thing could be created by the same poster and it somehow is not thought of as noise. |
Re: Somebody explain to me how this is good managing?
You mean you're not supposed to hit 1.000 OPS guys in the 6 hole? Maybe someone needs to tell Jerry that you might want to get this guy more AB's than Conine and Gonzalez.

Re: Somebody explain to me how this is good managing?
My question continues to be: what position is he preparing these hitters to hit in? The approach to leadoff, 2nd, cleanup etc. are quite different, how does pulling ping pong balls out of the Lotto machine to guess what slot a players hitting in them establish in a roll in the order? Pinella did this with a new team for 18 games then set the lineup, Jerry's approach is screwing up good young hitters and failing miserably in allowing them to settle into a specific roll/spot in the order. Girardi NOW!!
