Sarasota is off. Louisville and Chattanooga play later tonight. Homer Bailey is pitching for Louisville and Richie Gardner for Chattanooga.
Dayton is currently playing in game one of a doubleheader. They are trailing game one 3-2 in the bottom of the 5th. Juan Francisco and Justin Turner are both 1-for-2 with solo homeruns. Francisco takes over the Reds minor league homerun lead with 10. Bruce is second with nine. |

Re: Monday 5-28 minor league updates
Hopefully Homer can have an outing much like his last. He just needs to keep improving and working on things.

Chattanooga is underway, and Louisville starts in a little less than an hour. I know Doug has mentioned this several times before, but many Reds minor league games are available on MiLB GameDay Audio (you must register, but everything is free), including both the Lookouts and Bats games tonight. Chattanooga and Mississippi have no score so far in the bottom of the 1st inning. Gardner: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 SO, 0 HR Ryan Hanigan threw out two baserunners attempting to steal, and the pbp guy commented that Gardner was very quick to the plate. |

Re: Monday 5-28 minor league updates
Hopefully Gardner can settle down from here on forward and cut back on the walks. Sounds like he was lucky Hanigan had his back.

Re: Monday 5-28 minor league updates
Dragons lead 2-1 in the 5th. Stubbs 2-3 2runs: Turner 3-3.

Re: Monday 5-28 minor league updates
Lineup behind Homer tonight:
Keppinger 2B Wise RF Bellhorn DH Herr 2B Votto 1B Edwards LF Lopez SS Jorgesen C Dickerson CF |
Re: Monday 5-28 minor league updates
Chattanooga and Mississippi are still scoreless heading to the bottom of the 2nd inning. Gardner put a couple more guys on base in the 2nd inning, but he also recorded a pair of strikeouts and got out of the jam without giving up any runs.
Gardner: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 SO, 0 HR Anderson: 0-0, BB Janish: 0-0, BB Drew Anderson is playing left field instead of second base today too. |
Re: Monday 5-28 minor league updates
Should be interesting Bats will face knuckleballer Charlie Haeger.

Re: Monday 5-28 minor league updates
Homer is facing a pretty decent AAA lineup also.
Jerry Owens LF Tomas Perez 2B Josh Fields SS Ryan Sweeney CF Craig Wilson RF Casey Rogowski 1B Brian Anderson DH Gustavo Molina 3B Ryan Smith C Knuckleballer Charlie Hager is on the mound. 6 players with ML expierence, and Josh Fields is the White Sox top prospect. |
Re: Monday 5-28 minor league updates
Should be a very good test-think I'll listen to Charlotte announcer for a little different prospective on Homer Bailey.
|
Re: Monday 5-28 minor league updates
If the White Sox do indeed come calling for Griffey again like a lot of folks think, Josh Fields is one of the guys I would want in return. Fields + Gio Gonzalez would work for me.
