So this 73 year-old dude is better than every other 19 year-old on campus except the players already on the team? I watched the video. He looks like he can barely move.

You are right.

Roane State who? Now their name is in the news (and on RZ!). More high school seniors will know the name and might visit and/or apply to be a student there. More people might buy tickets to see the old-timer "play" hoops. Marketing. The good (getting free publicity) and the bad (73 and "playing" with/against real athletes).
