thinking of making a roster change...

I have a team with the following lineup:

C - Jarrod Saltalamacchia
1B - Albert Pujols
2B - Ian Kinsler
3B - Edwin Encarnación
SS - J.J. Hardy
IF - Derrek Lee
LF - Manny Ramírez
CF - Jacoby Ellsbury
RF - Nelson Cruz
OF - Nate McLouth
UT - David Ortiz
BN - Magglio Ordóñez
BN - John Baker
BN - Willy Taveras
BN - Randy Winn
BN - Felipe López
BN - Chris Dickerson

SP - Jon Lester
SP - Clayton Kershaw
SP - Gavin Floyd
SP - Josh Beckett
SP - Scott Kazmir
RP - Mariano Rivera
RP - Francisco Cordero
RP - Fernando Rodney
P - Jonathan Sánchez
P - Joey Devine
P - Wandy Rodríguez
P - Brett Myers

Overall, pretty happy, but I am having reservations about Derek Lee, and my gut says Russell Branyan is going to hit 30 HR's. I'm also not sure Fernando Rodney is going to keep the closer job in Detroit. Add to that Devine is visiting Dr. Andrews, and I think I'm short in the bullpen.

Should I dangle Lee?

I wouldn't count on Rodney for sure, over the last 3 years he has blown 25 while saving 33 with an ERA of 4.25 and a WHIP of 1.41. Those aren't numbers I'd really want in my lineup, so yes dangle Lee. By the way, I think you should get your gut checked :)

No way does he hit 30. I just don't think he will get the at bats to do this, barring an injury to another player. Plus he plays in a cavern, and often has trouble putting the bat on the ball.

He's got the 1B job locked up. HR's to RF at Safeco are pretty manageable, and he's got legit power.

30 HR's.

And I'll be lauded as a baseball prophet.

You're already that, but is this the Russell Branyan that at age 33 has hit over 20 HR's exactly once either because he couldn't lock up a position or he was injured? The same guy that was released by the Brewers and Padres over the last few years? The same career platoon player we were able to enjoy as a Red? If anybody comes along in Seattle with anything resembling a pulse and under age 25 Branyan shouldn't be taking AB's away from them. If I remember correctly didn't Corey Patterson display some early power last year?

It's a new economy. :)

Branyan was a victim of the times and league. Moving to the NL hurt him, and FO's thinking he was a 3B hurt him more. He's a K machine, but he had decent OBP numbers.

Mark it down. 30HR's, 90+ RBI's, .875+ OPS

What is a bigger surprise to me is the BA. .311?!

Re: thinking of making a roster change...

Sure he CAN get to 30 but he won't...again. He has reached 20 twice in his career which began in 1998. If I was a betting man (and had any money) I would certainly bet on it. If you want to wager a sig. or avatar, I'm all for it
