Manuel, Roenicke, and Viola are all future major league relievers, IMO.

Manuel reminds me of a David Weathers type. Average fastball velocity with good movement and a solid slider.

Roenicke has a big arm and his control has improved a lot this season. He's ready for the majors now, IMO.

Viola has the stuff to be a dominant lefty out of the pen. I've seen him pitch a couple times on TV during ST and I was wowed by his stuff. His control will determine whether he's a dominant bullpen arm or merely a solid one.

And Homer slides into the rotation, that is a third of our big league pitchers promoted in one season (if you count Bailey). With Stubbs and possibly others inserted into the lineup and we will have a huge infusion of youth next season.

With the Tigers, Yankees, Angels, and Rangers all having major bullpen issues, you gotta think they might be interested in at least one of our arms. Do any of these teams having any shortstop prospects that could be targeted if we were to ship them one of our relievers?

Yes, the AAA bullpen is a position of great strength in this organization, with Fisher already called up. Lutz at AA could also joing them soon when healthy, a ground ball guy.

With Bailey, Stewart, Wood and some others (Smith, maybe Lecure) starting pitching is again becoming a position of strength although slightly behind these bullpenners in development.

And with Stubbs at AAA and the mighty Carolina group of Frazier, Heisey, Alonso, Francisco, and perhaps Henry, the next round of bats is on its way as well.

That's about 15 guys at the high levels with reasonable to good chances of making the majors in the next few years. And I'm sure I'm leaving some out. Like Valaika who is injured and Ramirez who has shown flashes of excellence.

Don't forget Daryl Thompson although probably as a reliever if he can ever get away from the injury bug.

LeCure is becoming much better.

For the month of June (5 starts):

30.2 IP - 26 H - 9 ER - 10 BB - 27 K - 2.64 ERA and 1.17 WHIP

He hasn't allowed a run in his last two starts and has pitched 13.2 scoreless inning in a row.

Lecure had two streaks like this (probably even better) at AA last year. I'm not surprised this has happened. Last year he had an injury which stopped his streak and then it took awhile for him to get back in form.

He's only pitched 30 innings in the five outings, would like to see them stretch him out to 7 innings per outing if possible. He's getting close and should get a shot with the Reds or in a trade.

I hope we could convince another team that LeCure has value. This time next year, he'll likely be out of the organization either way- hopefully its via trade where we actually get something nice back.

Yep, that is the one thing that stands out. From his last few starts:

6/25: 6 IP - Pitches-strikes: LeCure 102-60 - 59%

6/19: 6.2 IP - Pitches-strikes: LeCure 101-60 - 59%

6/14: 5 IP - Pitches-strikes: LeCure 99-59 - 60%

6/9: 8 IP - Pitches-strikes: LeCure 113-71 - 63%

6/4: 5 IP - Pitches-strikes: LeCure 104-62 - 60%

If he could improve his strike rate just a little and be more economical with his pitches, he may turn out to be a very good one.

For contrast, Lehr's last start:

6/24: 8 IP - Pitches-strikes: Lehr 79-54 - 68%

Well, scratch Viola. No word yet on who will replace him. Could be Sean Watson again.

For those that haven't heard, Viola was called up to the Reds.
