SS Valentin, Jose

OF Ramirez, Manny
OF Burrell, Pat
OF Jones, Jacque

RP Fossum, Casey
P Radke, Brad
P Ohka, Tomokazu
Bench Lidle, Cory
Bench Perez, Oliver

Like my other team in Larkin Fan's Head-to-Head league, the strength of this team is it's pitching. Zito, Lowe, Halladay and Perez all won at least 15 games last year, and all could very well win 20 this year. I'm not big on getting closers, as I prefer to fill out my relief pitching slots with young starters who are eligible at both SP and RP. I'd like to add another closer, but if I can't get one I like I'll probably just end up trading Williams. However, unlike that other team, this team's offense is pretty good. I think Delgado, Burrell, Ramirez and Berkman are as good a four hitters as any team in the league. I waited a long time to take a SS, but I was fairly happy to get Valentin. I'd like to upgrade there, but I could live with it. All in all, I'm happy with this team.

I believe that is his Redszone name, but when I tried to send him a PM it told me that he is setup NOT to receive PM"s, so that maybe why his name does not display.

Here is some initial information to get you started.

Our leagues active positions for hitting are:

1 catcher (C)
1 first baseman (1B)
1 second baseman (2B)
1 shortstop (SS)
1 third baseman (3B)
1 centerfielder (CF)
3 OF's (any OF position) (LF,RF,CF)
3 Utility (Any position above + DH)

You can put any player in any position they are eligible for. Aaron Boone for instance is eligible at 3B and SS, so you could put him at 3B, SS, or UTIL and his stats will count toward your "total".

The categories we are using in the league are:

Runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, HR's, RBI's, stolen bases, walks, strikeouts, and average.

Each day of the season, your active players hitting stats will be accumulated. Here is an example of one day.

C,Larue 0R, 1 H, 0 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 SB, 1 BB, 1K, .250
1B,Konerko 2R, 2H, 1 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 3RBI, 0 SB, 0BB, 0K, .500
2B,Biggio 1R, 1H, 0 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 1 SB, 1 BB, 1 K, .333
3B Glaus 3 R, 3 H, 1 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 4 RBi, 0 SB, 0 BB, 1K, .750
SS Tejada 2R, 2H, 1 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 1 SB, 1 BB, 1K, .500
CF Finley ARI did not play
OF Bonds 3 R, 3H, 1 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 0 SB, 2 BB, 0K,1.000
OF Kearns 0R, 1 H, 1 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 1RBI, 0 SB, 1 BB, 1K, .250
OF Sanders 0R, 0H, 0 2B, 0 3B, 0HR, 0RBI, 0 SB, 0BB, 3K, .000
UTIL Burks 1R,1H, 0 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 0RBI, 0SB, 0BB, 1K, .250
UT McGriff 1R, 2H, 0 2B,0 3B, 1HR, 2 RBI, 0 SB, 0 BB, 1K, .500
UT Kennedy 2R, 2H, 0 2B, 1 3B, 0HR, 1 RBI, 1 SB, 1 BB,1K,.500
Bench: T.Hall 3R, 3H, 2 2B, 1 3B, 0 HR, 4 RBI, 0SB,0BB,0K,.750
Vizquel 1R, 1H, 0 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 1RBI, 1SB,1BB,1K, .333

Your totals would be:

15Runs, 18 Hits, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 5 HR's, 17 RBI, 3 SB, 7 BB, 11K's, .439 average
* note your bench players scores don't count

**If you would have played Hall instead of LaRue, Hall's totals would have gone toward your score. You do not have anyone on your roster currently eligible to play CF besides Finley, so if he does not have a game that day, you will not get any points for that position. If say, Craig Biggio is eligible at CF (after 15 games played there), you could move Biggio to your CF spot, Kennedy to your 2B spot, and Finley to the BENCH to get the max amount of points.

The pitching stats are counted the same way. To see the hitting or pitching categories at anytime during the season, click on "league settings" from the league homepage. This is just a basic overview, if you have any detailed questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

How many pitchers pitch at a time?

Redny 03-14-2003 12:02 AM

On your active roster you have 5 Starting pitchers, 3 relief pitchers, and 2 pitchers (either starting or relief). Obviously, everyone on your pitching staff is not going to pitch on the same day, so you can move pitchers in and out of your active roster and replace them with pitchers on your bench that are pitching that day to get their stats counted. So for instance:

Wade Miller pitches Monday, Mark Prior also pitches Monday.
Josh Beckett and Ryan Dempster pitch on Tuesday. Contreras, Byrd and Sabathia pitch on Wednesday. You have Daal on the bench, and he pitches Tuesday as well. On Tuesday morning, you would want to take Miller, Prior, or one of you pitchers in the "P" slot and put them on the bench, and move Daal to either SP or P to get his stats to count. Make sense? If not, let me know....

Blues Breakers,
I have sent a trade offer to you. Please reply back to me as soon as possible. I'd tried to make this trade as heavily in your favor as possible without fleecing myself because I need a SS. If, for some reason, you don't like it, send me a counter offer back.

RedVoodoo 04-02-2003 04:01 PM

i seem to have a boatload of shortstops. if anybody needs one please send all offers my way.
