Report: MLB to begin testing for HGH in '12

Very encouraged that baseball seems to be doing most things right currently.

Major League Baseball's new collective bargaining agreement, which should be announced next week, will include blood testing for human growth hormone for the first time, according to a report.

Citing two people briefed on the matter, The New York Times said Saturday that MLB's new labor deal will call for blood testing to begin when players report for spring training in February.

Also wasn't there sniping on here earlier this year about whether or not hgh even improves performance?

I had the same thoughts about a certain St. Louis 1b. It will be interesting to see what his statistics are in 2012.

I'm shocked the union agreed to this.

Next year should be interesting.

fwiw, even though I'm pretty strongly anti-steroid, I've long had questions as to whether hgh were really as dangerous. Admittedly, I'm more ignorant on the subject than opinionated. Can anyone clarify this? I could google it, but I'm lazy.

anyone familiar with how that works...as far as how long that kind of thing would stay in one's system?

I wonder how far off Prince Albie's stats will fall. NOt quite as far as Berkmans............ I'm betting some new "off season program" will have them showing up to camp smaller than ever.

Bud Selig is trying to rescue his legacy on the way out the door. And that is a very good thing for baseball.

Really? Come on guys, I expected better from you. How has no one said "so now we know why TLR retired"?

The reason we didn't write any of the things suggested above is that we really don't want to talk about things that happened in the past.
