Baseball Prospectus Farm System Rankings

Kevin Goldstein just released his farm system rankings over at Baseball Prospects. He has the Reds at #18 with this to say:

Quote:

System At a Glance: A big downturn, but that's because of the Mat Latos trade; using prospect to acquire talent is one of the primary reasons for having prospects in the first place.

Given what we gave up this season (as they noted), that doesn't seem like an unreasonable ranking. Certainly we expect that to change if we see continued improvement from the players that we still have.

I'll tell you what, I wasn't too excited after the trades as far as the farm goes, but man, what a season so far.

Hamilton
Corcino
Cingrani
Lutz

Are all having mind-blowing seasons so far. Throw in really good seasons from

H-Rod
Lamarre
Fellhauer
Rogers
Joseph
Wright
Lotzkar

And the young guns looking great so far

Stephenson
Winker
Rahier
Travieso (TBA)

I'm officially excited again.
