Glad the Reds miss him. They don't do well with Maholm-like lefties. I shutter to think how many Cincinnati Reds he'd strike out

Surprising to me but certainly possible. A quick calc puts odds of such a thing at 1 in 133k. How many MLB games have ever been played?
Re: 5/3/12 - Reds vs Cubs
See, we are not the laughing stock. The Cubs are the laughing stock.

I imagine the decision was based on tie game with DP vs. greatly increasing chances of game winning hit due to infield in.

Mes' grounder was hit sharply. Might have gone through a drawn-in infield.

I agree after seeing the replay, the strategy was survival, try to get the game to extras. Infield in might have also affected Mesaraco's approach in the at bat. Sveum's back was against the wall and it probably was the higher percentage move considering the situation.

Sure it's been posted already, but really have to admire Bailey's toughness today. His perseverance kept the Reds in the game. Great to see him maturing.
Re: 5/3/12 - Reds vs Cubs
Bailey pitched well enough to win. A quality start, but that's not good enough for this present offensive team. Until this offense starts hitting and until our manager changes his ways, our staff will struggle. We went through this last year for awhile, too. I don't have to tell you what I think is the problem.
Re: 5/3/12 - Reds vs Cubs
When I got home I was shocked to see the Reds had won this game. Good come from behind win but the Cubs did give it away. A bunch of walks and a couple of terrible errors did them in more than anything. But the Reds will take it and move. Sorta makes up for that giveaway to the Giants last week.

Good point. Sometimes these types of games even out over the season. But the Reds do get credit for just letting Marmol hang himself.
Re: 5/3/12 - Reds vs Cubs
This game yesterday was the end of Marmol being the Cubs closer.
