This says it all -the trade raised the expectation for Latos. He hasn't met the high bar set for him although he hasn't been terrible.

Altuve greets Hoover with a single

Disappointing season so far. Never seems to do well with run support.
Not seeing the hype with this guy. Haven't seen anything yet that would justify the trade made for him.

Really no reason to judge the Latos trade this soon. He obviously has a great arm, he's been disappointing, it's only June 2.
The important thing is for the bullpen to bail him out.

Lowrie facing Hoover. Jed has killed it tonight
Re: 6/2/12 - Reds at Astros
Hoover has done well. But he is an extreme fly ball pitcher. Need him to get out of this.
Re: 6/2/12 - Reds at Astros
long drive to right foul ball wow!
Re: 6/2/12 - Reds at Astros
Even when Latos pitches a decent game, he still needs 100 pitches to get through five innings. In what league will that work?

Where is Latos velocity? I thought he threw 95+ and he rarely seems to hit it? And his complimentary pitches never seem to work.
This has the makings of one of the worst trades in Reds history the way this guy continues to pitch. I also expected him to be more of an innings eater, and he seems to never make it much past the 5th or 6th inning. Extremely disappointing.

However, 1/3 of the way into the season and he has been weak. There is no denying that.
